Himani is a veteran actor who has spent about four decades in the film industry. Himani was recently in the news as she tested positive for COVID-19. Early Life And Family:
Himani Shivpuri was born in a middle-class family. She belongs to the lovely mountainscape of Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Himani was always involved in extracurricular activities at school. Her father was a teacher at the Doon School. Dr Haridutt Bhatt was a Hindi teacher and that explains why Himani has a great knowledge of her mother tongue, Hindi. Himani went on to pursue a post-graduation in Organic Chemistry. Himani had won a scholarship to study in America but she chose to stay in India and refused the honour as her heart lay in theatre. Himani married Kashmiri Pandit and fellow actor Gyan Shivpuri. Himani and Gyan have a son named Katyayan. She also has a pet dog and is often seen posting pictures of him.
Career:
Himani Shivpuri graduated from the National School Of Drama and her debut film was Ab Aayega Mazaa which released in 1984. Himani then went on to appear in blockbuster films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Dilwale. She also started acting in television shows. Her debut show was Yatra, which released in 1986. Himani also starred in some of the most famous television serials in the history of TV, such as Kasauti Zindagi Ki, Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, and Kyuki Sas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Himani has been a theatre star right from the initial days of her career, she has acted in plays like Draupadi and Mitra Marjani. Few people know that Himani has also acted in a documentary by the name of The Facebook Generation. The documentary was appreciated by critics and it also won awards in a global competition. Himani has also directed the play Sunhare Sapne as a tribute to her father who is the original author of the story.

Himani has won many accolades for her performances in the mainstream cinema. Himani has won the 19th JAI National Award. It was awarded to her by the Journalists Association of India and the Journalists Federation of India. Himani has also been awarded the Icon Of The Year award for her contribution to Indian media and cinema. Shivpuri was honoured with the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman.
