Bollywood Actresses Who Replaced Divya Bharti in Films She Had Signed Before Her Sudden Death

Popular Bollywood actress of her time, Divya Bharti had passed away at the mere age of 19 years in the year 1993. April 5, 2021, marked the actress’ 28th death anniversary, who had bagged roles in over 10 Hindi films in the primary year of her professional acting career in Hindi cinema. However, upon her sudden and mysterious death, the actress was replaced with other leading ladies in her potential films that she had already signed.

Prior to her demise, Divya had signed several upcoming Bollywood films. While two of her films, Shatranj and Rang released soon after her demise, there were many other ones that had to be briefly halted. The actress was set to star in the 1994 film Laadla that later starred Sridevi instead of Divya. While Divya had completed 80% of Laadla‘s filming before her passing, the film was later reshot from the beginning with Sridevi in the lead. This was done since there were certain scenes left undone that were absolutely crucial. Various weird news of weird things happening on the set had surfaced when Sridevi began shooting for the film in replacement of Divya.

Another 1994 film, Mohra, saw Raveena Tandon replace Divya in its lead role. Kajol replaced Diya Bharti for a pivotal role in the 1995 film Hulchul, opposite Ajay Devgn. After Divya’s passing, Tabu replaced her as the female lead in the film Vijaypath, opposite Ajay. Paired with Sanjay Kapoor, Juhi Chawla was signed in the place of Divya for the film Kartavya, another 1995 film. Mamta Kulkarni essayed the role of the female protagonist in the film Andolan instead of Divya. It is also believed that Divya Bharti was the primary choice for the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which was actually portrayed by Kajol in 1995. The actress who kick-started her acting career in films at the tiny age of 16 years, had signed almost 8 different films that were later offered to these other actresses upon her sudden demise.
