Biopic On ‘Revolutionary’ Choreographer Saroj Khan Is In The Making, Will Be Backed By Bhushan Kumar

Recently, Bhushan Kumar announced the biopic on Saroj Khan while marking the late choreographer’s first death anniversary. While nothing more is shared, the project will be backed by T-series.

To celebrate an inspiring journey, Bollywood often indulges in biographical films based on the lives of renowned personalities. While this genre has piqued the audiences’ interest, it has now become an archetype of Hindi cinema. Being said that, a new biopic based on late choreographer Saroj Khan is now in the making. Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-series has brought the ‘official rights’ for a film based on the late choreographer and her inspiring journey in showbiz. 

On Saturday, Bhushan Kumar announced this big news while marking the first death anniversary of renowned Bollywood choreographer, Saroj Khan. Citing her as “India’s first female choreographer” Bhushan shared that he will be backing this ambitious project. Also, he noted that all the formalities have been discussed with Saroj’s family. T-series has acquired rights from her children Raju Khan and Sukaina Khan. Through this biopic, fans will see witness the rise, fall, and dedication of Saroj Khan towards her art.

The late choreographer’s children expressed their views about this upcoming project while talking to the media. Sukaina shared the “struggles” her mother Saroj faced in the industry to emerge as a star dancer. Also, she is optimistic that the biopic will portray her mother’s “love and passion” for dancing while also shedding a light on her work ethic.

“We hope with this biopic, Bhushanji will be able to tell her story, her love for us, her passion for dancing, and her fondness for her actors and respect to the profession with this biopic,” Sukaina was quoted saying. Saroj’s son Raju who followed her footsteps to be a choreographer shared how she dedicated her life to dancing. Also, he added that the biopic will be an “honour” to her art and her family.

Sharing his views, Bhushan Kumar noted that Saroj Khan “revolutionized” the working of the film industry. Also, he recalled the time when he visited the sets of his father’s films and found Saroj engrossed in her choreography scene.

While nothing more about this project is revealed yet, it will be another biopic audiences would love to watch.
