October 3 is Mean Girls day – here is what you can do to celebrate it

What is Mean Girls?

Mean Girls is a 2004 American teen comedy film directed by Mark Waters and written by Tina Fey. The film stars Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Tim Meadows, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, and Fey with Amanda Seyfried in her film debut. Mean girls is a timelessly iconic film because of how it relates to teens social life, expectations, problems, and dilemmas

In 2005, Cady Heron correctly observed: “It’s October 3rd.” Since then, the day has been recognized in pop culture as ‘Mean Girls Day.’ This is how October 3 came to be known as Mean Girls Day and the best ways to celebrate it.

Why is October 3 Mean Girls Day?

In the classic teen flick Mean Girls, a key scene shows Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) and Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) in a conversation during maths class.

Aaron turns around and asked Cady what day it is. In a voice-over, Cady recalls: “With Regina’s blessing, I started talking to Aaron more and more. On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was. ” She then replied ‘October 3^rd’. This is by far the most iconic scene from a teen movie.

How to Celebrate Mean Girls Day-

1. Wear Pink

Mean Girls Day may not be falling on a Wednesday this year, but there is no better way to pay tribute to Mean Girls than wearing pink. It is Regina George’s favourite colour after all. Wear literally anything pink, a scarf or a skirt.

2. Buy Something Vintage

As Lea Edwards (Alisha Morrison) walked through the high school corridor, Regina stopped her in her tracks to ‘compliment’ her skirt. “I love your skirt. Where did you get it?”

“It was my mom’s in the ’80s” Lea replied “Vintage, so adorable” Regina replied before being really mean about it. Regina later addressed to the skirt as being the ‘ugliest effing skirt’ that she had ever seen.

3. Watch ‘Mean Girls’

There is no better way to celebrate Mean Girls than by watching the movie itself and reliving all of the most iconic moments.

4. Prepare for Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, this idea would be just right for anyone. Here’s an idea for your Halloween costume 2021: why not dress as the Plastics at Aaron’s Halloween party.

One can take inspiration from Karen’s (Amanda Seyfried) mouse costume, Regina’s Playboy bunny gear or Gretchen Wiener’s (Lacey Chabert) classy cat look. Or you can channel Cady and go as Dracula’s ex-bride.
