All is not well with MAA elections. Naga Babu Konidela reveals what’s ailing the apex organisation in a letter posted on social media hours after losing the elections

The controversies continue unabated. In the latest turn of events, senior actor Nagendra Babu popularly known as Naga Babu announced his decision to quit from the primary membership of the Movies Artistes Association (MAA), the apex body for the Telugu film industry.

Earlier in the day MAA election results were out in which Vishnu Manchu was declared as the winner for the President’s post. Vishnu had defeated Prakash Raj. Naga Babu was in Prakash Raj’s panel.

He posted a letter on his social media handles that said,

“Movie Artists Association – MAA is filled with narrow-mindedness and regional feelings. I don’t want to continue within this association and I am submitting my resignation from my primary membership of MAA…”

In the letter, Naga Babu has also alleged the use of muscle and money in MAA elections. A day before the election, Naga Babu had criticised Vishnu Manchu.

Naga Babu has said that he will continue to support Prakash Raj.

Well-known TV anchor and actor Anasuya Bharadwaj who contested as the Executive Committee member from Prakash Raj’s panel has also expressed disbelief at the results on Twitter. The actress is flabbergasted and suspects foul play.

On Twitter, she has raised concerns about the development. She has been tweeting and retweeting posts that ask that when Anasuya had already won the election, how did the results change in a day.

This incident has apparently given her solid learning. The actress tweeted,

“I never, ever get involved in politics. With politics, you are not allowed to be honest. I don’t have time to deal with that. I would rather work with kids,” she posted the message.
