Marathi actresses like Amruta Khanvilkar, Sonali Khare, and Rutuja Bagwe have extended their support on Instagram to the victims of domestic abuse.

The coronavirus pandemic has brought life to a standstill in every country across the globe. Considering the increasing number of corona positive cases throughout India, the government has enforced a lockdown and we have been asked to stay inside our homes until the situation pacifies. While many of us feel safe to have a shelter that protects us, others have been less fortunate. Sadly, there has been a considerable increase in incidents of domestic violence, especially during the lockdown. As these cases are going up at an alarming rate, the Marathi film industry decided to step up to support the victims of domestic abuse. Marathi actresses like Amruta Khanvilkar, Sonali Khare, and Rutuja Bagwe have now joined the cause.

Domestic violence is a heinous crime that is committed in a confined space of a house. Since we are all locked up inside our house currently, the victim’s cry for help falls on deaf ears. Hence, to ensure that the victims receive the much-needed justice, Marathi film actresses decided to be their voice. Amruta Khanvilkar, Sonali Khare, and Rutuja Bagwe shared a post on their Instagram handle along with the victims’ names. The actresses have also urged everyone to contribute and raise funds for the victims of domestic abuse. The talented stars tagged an NGO that needs funds to gather resources to tackle domestic violence. This NGO has been working closely to fight domestic abuse for the past 20 years. To continue the chain of humanity, the actresses have further nominated their friends from the industry to lend their voices.
