Aparajita Apu: Meet Apu, determined, brave and starkly different from your usual protagonists

The loving viewers of ZEE5 are in for a real treat, now that a new Bengali television show called Aparajita Apu is all set to start airing on ZEE5 from November 30! This new Bengali serial will follow the journey of the life of a strong, determined, young woman named Apu. While the lead role of Apu will be played by the Bengali actress Susmita Dey, several other eminent actors and actresses will be seen featuring in other pivotal roles.

Aparajita Apu’s protagonist Apu is a bright young girl, who hails from a patriarchal family background. Growing up, she experiences a lot of discrimination based on her gender, even from her own family. However, Apu’s determination to earn the deserving respect for herself and to work hard for it remains unbeaten. She strives to be the perfect and able daughter to her parents and wants to relieve them of all their stresses. Although she faces countless hurdles in the way of her journey to such dignity, respect and a non-discriminative life, Apu exudes tremendous will-power and courage all throughout.

As a protagonist, Apu stands out in everyone’s eyes when compared to others due to her endless strength to fight through injustice and bias. Unlike most other leading ladies of our all-time favourite television shows, Apu does not give in to any sort of discriminating or partial behaviour in life. She is very outspoken and never fails to take a stand when she faces any unjust behaviour. Apu immediately protests for herself and on the behalf of others at the intimation of any occurrence of gender bias or disrespect.

A young woman, who does not allow peers, family or outsiders to put her down only on the basis of her gender, Apu is going to be an extremely interesting & unique character to watch as she goes about her life.
