Having won the Oscar for his work, he has proven that language is no barrier for connecting to people with music. In a recent interview, AR Rahman has come forward to note that he is grateful to the Hindi audience for embracing him and his work.

After nearly completing two successful decades as a music composer, the Academy Award winner is trying on a new field as he decided to write his maiden film 99 Songs. The composer is also turning a producer with this project and the romantic musical will showcase a different side of the maestro. Rahman is currently on the road to promote his upcoming film and has been making headlines.
Last month, the composer made big news as he stormed off the stage of a promotion event of the film. In a viral video, Rahman could be seen leaving the stage as the event’s anchor began to speak in Hindi. Rahman was also heard exclaiming, “Hindi?”, before walking off the stage, as the crowd cheered and watched on.

However, the Oscar-winning has come forward to explain that his walking off was intended to be a joke. Explaining the visuals where he was seen disturbed, Rahman said that he did it as a ‘joke’ at the expense of the anchor and didn’t mean it to be taken seriously. He also went on to explain how well his Hindi speaking audience has accepted his works. 99 Songs is set to release on April 16 in Hindi and has been dubbed in Telugu and Tamil. The film starring newcomers Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas is directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy.
