Badi Aapa Review: Zubeida’s Life Journey Will Brighten Your #SummerOfEmotions

Badi Aapa is an Urdu drama written by Samira Fazal and directed by Saife Hassan. The series features Savera Nadeem as Zubeida and Noman Ejaz as Farman. Badi Aapa, the 22 episode series is available on ZEE5. In the serial, Zubeida dominates her husband, Farman and tries to control her daughter Sharmeen’s life. But Zubeida is unsuccessful in doing so. Zubeida was madly in love with Ghazanfar, and the two loved each other, but Zubeida’s sister Firdouz gets married to him. Zubeida soon finds out about Farman’s second wife, Neelam, and decides to divorce Farman and go back to Ghazanfar.

The first episode of the show starts with Zubeida, who is shown as the eldest and controlling daughter in the family. She has a brother Shakeel, who lives with his mother and wife Riffat. Zubeida dominates her family and forces them to listen to her. She tells her brother Shakeel to divorce Riffat. On the other hand, Riffat hates Badi Aapa and does not want her to control their lives. Zubeida does not feel wrong in dominating her brother’s life, as she feels she has helped him during his difficult times.

Zubeida’s younger sister Firdous does not like her Badi Aapa either, as her parents always gave priority to her sister. Actress Arjumand Rahim essayed the role of Firdous in the show and received appreciation for portraying the character perfectly. Firdous gets married to Ghazanfar. Zubeida is head over heels in love with Ghazanfar, but her parents forcefully get her married to Farman. Despite being married to Farman, Zubeida had feelings for Ghazanfar and always wanted to go back to him. Zubeida does not love Farman, but he cares for her.

As the show moves further, there are many shocking twists, like Zubeida getting to know about her husband’s second marriage after three years. She decides to divorce him, but Farhan urges Zubeida not to leave him. What will happen next? Will Zubeida divorce Farman and get married to her first love, Ghazanfar?

In the next scene, Riffat leaves Shakeel and her son and walks away. She eagerly wants Shakeel to realise that he should stop Badi Aapa from interfering in their lives. Riffat’s character is quite strong and is shown as an independent woman who loves to take a stand for herself.

The storyline of the show is gripping and unpredictable. The characters are relatable. The plot of the show will keep you hooked as it is quite intriguing. The actors have done justice to their roles perfectly. The direction and cinematography of Badi Aapa is brilliant.
