1. Rampaat

Ravi Jadhav is one of the most talented filmmakers we have, in the Marathi cinema today. The director is known for his expertise at various genres be it drama, romance, etc. Ravi celebrates his 48th birthday today and on this special occasion, we present to you a list of the filmmaker’s most celebrated work. We start with Rampaat, which is Ravi’s latest film starring Abhinay Berde and Kashmira Pardeshi.

This film tells the story of two small town youngsters- Munni and Mithun- who come to Mumbai to become actors. The film journeys their struggle, success and love story. Rampaat is an entertainer packed with the right amount of drama, action, dance etc. It is an out and out ‘masala’ film, which is a first from Ravi. But the director does a splendid job at pulling off this commercial film with ease. Watch Rampaat if you’re looking for a feel-good film.

2. Nude

This film can easily be touted as Ravi’s best work yet. Starring Kalyanee Mulay and Chhaya Kadam, this film tells the story of Yamuna, who leaves behind her abusive husband, and travels to Mumbai with her son. In order to fund her son’s education, Yamuna starts working as a nude model in an arts college.

The film sheds light on the stigma attached to the profession. It also highlights the patriarchal nature and double standards of society, where it refuses to accept women in certain roles. Nude’s  powerful narrative and performances are a must watch. Watch here.

3. Timepass

If you’re looking for a sweet love story, then Timepass is the one to watch. This film starring Prathamesh Parab and Ketaki Mategaonkar, sheds light on a relationship between two people who hail from different economical backgrounds. Dagdu, is a poor boy, in love with Prajakta, who hails from a rich family. Though the two want to spend their lives together, will their families approve? Watch here.

4. Natrang

This film starring Atul Kulkarni and Sonalee Kulkarni won a national award, under the best Marathi film category. Natrang tells the story of Guna, a laborer, who loses his job and starts his own theatre group. The film sheds light on Guna’s struggle, achievements and more. Check it out here.

5. Banjo

This film starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri, is a Hindi film, directed by Ravi. It tells the story of Taarat, who is a Banjo player. He falls in love with Christina, who comes to Mumbai to find talented musicians. But Taarat doesn’t tell her that he’s a Banjo player. What happens when she finds out? Watch here.
