Birthday special: Read fascinating facts about actor Suresh Menon as he turns 54

Suresh Menon is one of the actors who never disappointed. A talent like no other, Suresh is funny even without trying. Being one of the pioneers of comedy in India, the actor who started off as a comedian needs no introduction. From his early movies to his days as a judge on the game show Hello Kaun? Pehchaan Kaun along with Chunky Pandey, the actor came a long way. As the actor celebrates his 54th birthday, we bring to you some lesser known facts about him.

Malayali Fan Base

Suresh Menon was born in Palakkad district of Kerala. However, he moved and made his life in Mumbai. The actor made his breakthrough to Bollywood and hadn’t really connected with the Malayali audiences. However, the actor made his Mollywood debut in 2009 with the Mohanlal starrer Bharamaram and made an instant impact. He earned himself a Malayali fanbase through his engagements and interactions related to the movie.

Love for Podcasts

Suresh Menon loves podcasts; this is something he has mentioned on multiple occasions. Suresh who is one of the pioneers of the comedy scene in India was also one of the firsts to popularize comedic podcasts through hosting radio shows. The actor had a recorded podcast called ‘Kaanmasti’ which he made along with VJ Jose.

A Journalist

Suresh had a 9-5 job before he entered the world of Bollywood. In an interview he was noted saying that quitting his job with a leading newspaper to work in films is the craziest thing he has done. As talented as he is, we think Suresh would’ve made a great journalist if he weren’t an actor.

Contestant Before Judge

The actor-comedian also made an impression amongst the reality TV audience as a contestant way before he became a judge. The actor was part of the sixth season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in which he made a hopeful appearance. However, it was short-lived as the actor got eliminated in the first round.

A Strong Start

Suresh Menon did his Bollywood debut in 1998 and never looked back since. The actor starred in Akshaye Khanna starrer Doli Saja Ke Rekhna as the hero’s friend, before landing multiple roles. His role in Krazzy 4 where he starred alongside Irrfan Khan and Arshad Warsi is one of his best characters.
