Birthday Special: Siddharth – The Man Who Brewed Magic Each Time He Took Over The Screen
BollywoodIn a career spanning two decades, Siddharth has won millions of hearts, across borders with his boundless talent, creativity and humility.
There’s no success without failure. That’s all we have been hearing all these years. But is it really possible to have success at every step, sometimes a grand one and sometimes only a small bit? There may be innumerable legends who would prove it right. But we’re concerned about our times and our people.
We’re highly overwhelmed, but not surprised, to learn that there is someone. A hero. He is the one who has worked hard for and earned success at every step. Today, he turns 41 and a whole lot more charming and loveable. He is Siddharth. Undoubtedly, Siddharth has etched a place for himself in people across countries, with his sheer talent, hard work and humbleness.
Watch his iconic film, Bommarillu here:
Before Siddharth could dive right into films, something that he always wanted, Siddharth completed his Masters. One might wonder why he would go such a long way when he knew his destination. Well, this good boy isn’t the one to disappoint his parents. Post studies, he assisted well-known filmmakers and found himself a spot as an assistant to Mani Ratnam. Thereon, there was no looking back.
After a small feature in Mani Ratnam’s film, Siddharth garnered a lead role. The film Boys released in multiple languages and took people by surprise. Even today, we believe, this film portrays teenage in it’s rawest form. The excitement, the disturbance, the vulnerability and everything in between was perfectly portrayed by the actor.
Starring Siddharth and Trisha, Nuvvasthanante Nenodantana is a film that you can watch seven days a week and still be entertained. With this, Siddharth showcased that he cannot be caged into a stereotype. He can be charming and fierce, he can be goofy and intense. Raise your hands if you still call out, “SantOoooosh“.
Yet another classic under Siddharth’s kitty is Bommarillu. We cannot emphasise enough on why this film was, is and will be a classic. While the story gave the actor a lot of room to perform, it was Siddharth who brought Siddhu to life. Despite living in a ‘dreamy’ world on screen, he struck the perfect chord with every son and youngster with his skill. We take a bow.
He’s got that cute-boy looks, a good enough voice, can act well. Before Aata, we had seen the cinematic side of Siddharth. But Tollywood is all about ‘a little more’. From his moves and dialogues to his expressions, everything about Aata was what we want in a masala movie. And suddenly, crashing all boundaries, Siddharth proved that you have to name it and he can do it.
Guess what? This goofy looking actor can sweep you off the floors with his polished looks and win your heart with his million-dollar smile. We often see characters who do not have more than a one-line description. But Siddharth had made it a point to deliver more. Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam showcased how beautiful a flawed life could be.
Many people dismissed Oy! when it released. Several years later, people started connecting the dots and appreciated the film. In 2009, we learned that you need Rs. 1 Lac to own a phone number that is ’99 9999 9999′. Why do we know it? Because the film never really left us. In our current times, more than ever, the message of Oy! sounds appropriate and relevant – make every day count.
Amidst many of his ventures, Baava came across as an easy-breezy film. The simple ‘boy meets girl’ love story is tailored to suit Telugu sensibilities. We realise that sometimes we only need to look at Siddharth, the way he looks at Pranitha, for life to feel a little better.
Probably a landmark in itself, Anaganaga O Dheerudu didn’t only bring the first Disney-backed Telugu film, but it also proved that we can have superheroes of our own. Playing a blind knight in a mystical land, Siddharth showcased that honesty can fill any act with a new soul.
Yet another iconic pick. Oh My Friend! is the one that we cannot and will not forget. In a world that pits women against women and refuses to let a girl and a boy be friends, this film will forever be hailed as a game-changer.
And all of these gems, we could never thank Siddharth enough. While we know that the actor-singer-writer-producer Siddharth is busy fueling his creativity, we cannot wait to see him on the Telugu screens once again.
Hoping for the day to come sooner than later, we wish the gem of an actor the happiest 41st birthday.
