Reigning over everyone
In the rap world, before Lisa, BTS’s SUGA who hit the number 1 rank with Agust D broke the trend for idols not charting individually. Psy, the most well known artist from South Korea was the first one to register his presence in the Western world through the viral hit, Gangnam style in 2012. In 2020, he was joined by Agust D through his mixtape D-2 and title track Daechwita. They are the reigning Trio for now.
Headstrong People
Lisa, who is ethnically Thai, is the first Korean female musician to top the Western charts. The power of Blinks is definitely behind it. Similarly, the Army (BTS Fandom) is behind the rising success of Suga.
There is no doubt that apart from fandom power, it is their strong will and determination that has resulted in this path breaking success. Lisa had to struggle hard to learn Korean and get acceptance in South Korea amongst all the Blackpink members. Likewise, SUGA faced a lot of financial hardships when he was starting out in the underground scene. Today their efforts have been well rewarded.
Record breaker
Lisa’s Lalisa got 73.6 million views in the first 24 hours making it the highest watched video in that duration on YouTube. SUGA’s Daechwita has also got 12 million likes, which is the highest for any Korean soloist.

They are not just record breaking singers but admirable artists in their own right. SUGA’s collabs with IU, Suran, Max and Lee Sora are huge successes. Lisa has also collaborated with the best like DJ Snake.
