Bollywood Trivia: A Rajkumar Santoshi Directorial and Star-Studded Film ‘Power’ Was Never Released

Several films have eventually been cancelled or called off after announcements of their launch or commencement of their shoot in the past. One such film was named Power which was supposed to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Power had a heavily loaded star cast all set for the film but unfortunately, the audience and Bollywood lovers never got to witness it.

Long back, there was once a film that never saw the light of the day despite consisting of a very notable and loaded star cast. The film, Power, was supposed to star Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn in its lead roles. It was supposed to be directed by the critically acclaimed Indian director-producer Rajkumar Santoshi. Power was being produced by Firoz A Nadiadwala and was believed to be an action film. Given its star cast had actors like Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn back then, Power had seemed to be a very promising action film of its time.

Trained professionals and skilled technicians from Hollywood were supposed to join the team of Power. It was being said that Amitabh Bachchan would execute his action sequences himself as well. Press conferences were held for the film and actors were seen sharing their experiences of the characters they played. Rajkumar Santoshi, the director, had spoken in detail about his experience with each of the actors he was working with, in Power, with absolute delight. The film was also inaugurated with a mahurat ceremony which was held on Anant Chaturdashi, September 22, 2010. However, it was never released and to this day, the reason behind it being called off remains a mystery for most people.

A multi-starrer film like Power would have been a delight for the Indian audience and Bollywood fans back then. Viewers love watching the favourite stars and celebrities come together on the big screen all the time. So watching Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn would have been of huge excitement for them. But we truly hope we are fortunate enough to witness such stars work together on projects time and again in the future.
