#BreakingTheBarriers: Sathya Enna Penkutty’s Sathya is a befitting reply to the patriarchal setting of Sudhi’s family

ZEE5 Web Desk . Mar 04, 2021 .

Sathya’s self-aware and confident attitude is the befitting reply to Sudhi’s family members who choose to alienate her for being vocal.

Fans of Sathya Enna Penkutty have by now understood how Sudhi’s family functions. We have all realised by now that Sathya is treated as an outsider in the family. Though Sudhi likes Sathya and takes care of her, often we spot him turning against Sathya after blindly trusting his mother or sister. The ambiance is always bad for Sathya and we can only wonder why it’s so for her and not for Baiju who is also married into the family.

Watch the latest episode spoiler of Sathya Enna Penkutty here:

Sathya has been treated wrong since day one. Apart from Chandradas, who was open and accepting to her, everyone else had a tough time living with her. It is a surprise that nothing has changed after all this time and thus, it makes us realise that there is something more than personal opinions involved in the issue. Sathya, who was a tomboyish character is now matured but nobody is ready to give her the respect she deserves.

Sudhi’s family is one that believes in values, some of which might have become outdated now. The patriarchal setting of the family means that Chandradas leads the family and makes all decisions. After him, the power goes to Sudhi, and there lies all the problem. For Sudhi’s mother and sister, Sathya is like a manipulative power over him and this could cause problems for the family, according to them.

Sathya’s confidence and her self-sufficient attitude are a bone to pick for the people in the family. The fact that she has control over her decisions makes them angry as they have only seen and learned that women look after the work at home while the men take the actual decisions. Sathya is a free spirit, who often talks back and is expressive to Sudhi and even Chandradas, which further scares the ladies of the family.

Sudhi’s house has always been run by men. Accepting that a woman can make her own decisions while being under the same roof isn’t easy for the family. While Sathya finds this okay and keeps fighting against it on a daily basis, it is only natural for us to believe that this family is one among the thousands with the patriarchal setting, in which the women suffer for their likes and choices. While Sathya chooses to live by her choices, her fightback can only be the befitting reply to the toxic setting of the environment around her.
