Bunty Aur Babli’s 2nd installment starring Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvani Wagh has finally made its way to the theaters. But before you book your tickets, you must read what do we have to say about the film

The celebrations of 50 years of Yash Raj Films started with the release of Bunty Aur Babli’s 2nd Installment starring Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Sharvani Wagh. For almost a month now, Bunty Aur Babli 2 is making the right kind of noise ahead of its release. Directed by debutant Varun V Sharma, the film, which also stars Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role, is almost 2 hrs and 25 minutes long. The difference in 2nd part in the star cast is- Abhishek Bachchan has been replaced by Saif Ali Khan while megastar Amitabh Bachchan gets replaced by Pankaj Tripathi. The first installment of Bunty Aur Babli has been about a couple – Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan – who con people, however, the 2nd Installment sees them getting back into the business to thwart the attempts of Siddhant and Sharvani at conning people using their signature name.

Speaking about the plot of the film, it’s been 16 years since Rani aka Vimmi’s last con took place and now the actress is living a regular life as a housewife in Phursatganj, Uttar Pradesh. Vimmi’s husband Rakesh played by Saif Ali Khan is a Ticket Collector who never leaves a chance to impress his wife. Vimmi and Rakesh’s easy life and daily routine change when two scamsters- Kunal played by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sonia portrayed by Sharvari Wagh begin to scam people that too using their calling card of ‘B&B’ which represents Bunty Aur Babli. Soon after the old Bunty and Babli learn about the new ones, they get into the details to know more in order to catch them. On the other hand, inspector Jatayu Singh portrayed by Pankaj Tripathi thinks that the old Bunty and Babli will be his key to nab the new fraudsters who are engineering pass out.

Speaking about the performances of Vimmi, Rakesh, Kunal, and Sonia, they seem to be a bit let down by the films slapdash writing. Despite, film’s plot being so weak, it was a delight to watch Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji spill their magic once again. But we must say Rani’s comic timing has saved the sinking ship many times in the film. Vimmi’s character was given very few genuinely funny lines or scenes in the film. Rakesh is an adorably cute character who’s a faithful husband and an obedient ticket collector. Newbies Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh have done a great job and look very confident onscreen. Sharvari is the next quintessential YRF actress. However, director and screenplay writer Varun has miserably failed to connect the audience with their back story.

Seeing Pankaj Tripathi’s humour in the same rural accent once again was boring because we have seen him carrying the same accent way too many times, so nothing new to it. All in all Bunty Aur Babli 2 is a big-budget film that is low on organic humour with just a handful of gags that will actually make you laugh for a few seconds. Above everything else, it’s Rani who steals the show once again. The sequel Bunty Aur Babli 2 doesn’t live up to the expectations and loses its charm not once but many times on the film. If you have nothing better to do on the weekend you can definitely go and watch it, else we don’t think you’ll miss anything in your life.
