Sushmita Sen is one of the most beautiful women we know, both inside and out. Looking back, she was ahead of the time both in her lifestyle and thought process. Her rise to fame is almost a fairy tale but what impresses her is how she managed it. Not only does she impress everyone in real life but also on the screen. This woman defined the rules than lived by them.
Every time we go and look back at Sushmita's old videos, we are blown away by her linguistics. She speaks with such clarity, thought and fluidity that one can confuse her as a native English speaker. The most shocking aspect is that she didn't even know English till the 9th standard.
Sushmita's family wasn't particularly well off and had put her in a Hindi medium school. To achieve her dream of being a model and winning the Miss Universe title, she learned English. However, Sushmita feels like the obsession with language is a huge problem.
She met many models who came from different countries and struggled to speak English. According to Sushmita, models should be allowed to speak in their native tongue. Many models from rural areas end up losing opportunities, and it's wrong.
Sushmita Sen loves poetry and likes to express herself through them. Very recently, a Video of Sushmita went viral where she recites beautiful poetry after winning Miss Universe. We want to recite this poem in the entirety that she wrote, mind you, at the age of 18.
"If all my pains and all my tears, and all that I learnt throughout these years, could lift a fallen head, could lighten a darkened mind, then I should think that not in vain, was my service to mankind."
Sushmita Sen's wisdom and the sageness she has showcased is truly mind-blowing. We couldn't have thought of a more deserving candidate for the award.
Sushmita Sen loves acting and describes herself as extremely hungry for work. However, at times, she felt like there was just a lot of pressure and competition in the industry. The industry works; the more effort you put into selling yourself, the more rewards you will receive. She felt that there was extreme pressure on her to accept roles whether she liked it or not. Sushmita calls the industry filled with many egos, and if you say no, you are considered a problem case, maybe because Sushmita wasn't ready to do any roles that led to some bad blood.
Sushmita Sen was just a few days away from the competition and was preparing to go to the contest. She had given her passport to Anupama Verma, one of the organisers of the whole event. She needed it for some basic checks when Sen got to know that her passport was lost.
It was extremely shocking to her, and she started panicking. Times of India even told Sen to let Aishwarya go for the contest to get to Miss World. Sushmita was extremely determined that she deserved it and would rather nobody go if it was not her. Sen's father decided to take the matter to his hands and talked to a pilot who aided them in the matter. Thankfully the whole thing got sorted, and the rest is history.
Sushmita Sen is one of the major Bollywood actresses that didn't get married. She chose to be a single mother instead and has had many relationships along the way. Her lifestyle choices and the bold way she lived raised many eyebrows among society. There was even talk that her adopting children at such a young age is a publicity stunt! Yes, people even said such absurd things about her, but Sen didn't care. Sushmita still considers adopting children at such a young age brought a lot of stability in her life. She is extremely close to them and has a lot of love in her heart.
Sushmita Sen has been missing from cinema for far too long, and we are happy to see her on the OTT platforms. We have a strong nostalgia for her performances, and how can one forget her from Main Hoon Na. She is not a yesteryear actress because Sen is ageless and only gets better with time.
