Ravi Dubey, the star of the show Jamai 2.0, has won a lot of hearts with his performance as Siddharth. Even his chemistry with Nia Sharma in Jamai 2.0 is loved by a lot of people. His on-screen persona and charm are well-known among the people. We interviewed the actor to know more about his life and about his experience in working in Jamai 2.0. Are you a morning person or a night person?
Ravi Dubey shared that he is both a morning person and a night person. He said that he likes to wake early but also doesn’t sleep till late at night. He said that waking up early and being productive throughout the day, makes him want to celebrate which leads to late nights.
Favourite song for your day to get you into the groove?
The actor said that he loves the song Lose Yourself by Eminem from his film 8 Mile.
Tea or Coffee?
Ravi Dubey shared that he loves coffee and consumes it all the time, throughout the day. After sharing his love for black coffee, he also shared that he now needs to control his caffeine intake.
Gym or yoga?
He said that currently, he is preferring gym but also wants to try yoga. He said that he knows about the benefits of yoga and wants to try it soon.
What was the last thing that you bought under Rs 100?
The Jamai 2.0 actor shared that the last thing he bought under Rs 100 was a Dairy Milk Fruit-n-Nut chocolate.
Last time you used public transport?
Ravi Dubey shared that he had recently taken a flight to return to Mumbai.
One thing you never leave home without?
He said that he never leaves without his cellphone. He also expressed his concern over how cellphones have become a necessity and pray that one day everyone could reduce their consumption of smartphones.
Have you ever used your star status to get away?
About this, Ravi Dubey said, “If it has happened, it hasn’t happened consciously. I never purposefully jump queues. I believe that one sets a wrong example by doing this. Rather if one follows rules, the person at the other end respects them for doing it. It is not fair of celebrities to break rules.”
What was the last lie that you said?
Ravi Dubey said that the last lie he said was, ‘I’ll be there in 5 minutes.’
One thing that makes you angry?
Ravi said, “When in a professional journey, people don’t put their best foot forward, don’t give in their dedication, it makes me angry. However, I know all of us are having our own journeys and struggles, so everybody has to be given the benefit of doubt and I’m training myself to accept that. Other than that, I don’t think I’m easily offended but once offended, there’s a lot of repair work required.”
One bad habit of yours that no one knows about?
The actor shared that he has two bad habits – one is sleeping late and the second one is consuming a lot of caffeine. He also shared that he is working on improving himself, dropping these habits.

What is your cheat meal like?
Ravi shared his cheat meal contains all kinds of junk food and he loves having chips, chocolates, and consuming a lot of carbs and sugar.
Favourite superhero?
The actor said that his favourite superhero is Iron Man. He said that he finds him charming, witty, and intelligent, and the fact that any man can be Iron Man. He also said that one of the reasons for loving Iron Man is Robert Downey Jr’s portrayal of him.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
“I am a history buff, so I love to visit any place that is rich in history. I recently visited Udaipur and loved it. I also like Turkey, because of its history. I love it when I can take back a part of the place with me. I love to get to know the history of a place, its socio-political structure, etc. So, any place with heritage and history is my favourite. I want to go to Rome, next.,” said Ravi Dubey.
So, do you like reading about civilizations?
To this, he answered, “I got into reading about history, physics, and quantum physics after I got done with my engineering. When it didn’t seem like a chore or a task I suddenly got interested in it. I got to learn about the parallels between quantum physics and spirituality. It has become something that makes me seek more information and find more books to read.”
What is your idea of a perfect date?
The actor said that his idea of a perfect date is to where the couple can talk and learn about each other’s personalities. “For me, I think a fruitful two-sided conversation, where you genuinely get to know the other person, is a perfect date,” he said.
What is the most romantic thing done that you’ve done for Sargun?
Ravi shared an interesting story regarding this question. He said, “On Sargun’s first birthday after we had started dating, which was 10 years back, I bought her a washing machine. I don’t think it gets any more romantic than that. She had just shifted to Mumbai and was setting up her new place and I thought this gift was thoughtful. She was surprised and shocked and laughed her heart out but of course, used it regularly.”

In a relationship, I will never _?
“Disrespect or disregard my partner. In a relationship, the two people should set their parameters and a line that should never be crossed, and they need not necessarily agree to society’s norms about it,” Ravi shared.
Best comment you have received on social media?
Ravi Dubey said that the best comment he received was, ‘You inspire us’.
And what was the worst comment?
He said that he does not pay attention to the hateful comments posted by the trolls, to keep his sanity and calm intact.
Life in one word?
“Bliss,” said Ravi.
The biggest lesson that life has taught you?
Ravi shared that so far, the lesson for him is that happiness is paramount and only if a person is happy themselves, can they keep others happy.
A favourite quote you live by?
He shared that there is a quote by the philosopher and writer, Daisaku Ikeda, which he loves. The quote conveys: When you decide to win, everything begins to turn in your favour, every nerve and cell in your body begins to work for you, and when you say that you can’t do something, every nerve and cell in your body deflates, giving up the fight.
If not an actor, what would you be?
“I only feel professionally engaged as an actor and a performer. Maybe at some point, I can be a writer or a director but this is what I enjoy doing the most, and I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else professionally,” said Ravi Dubey.
A celeb you would want to get stuck on an island with?
To this, he answered that he would love to get stuck on an island with his wife, actor Sargun Mehta. “I just want to be with her. She is busy shooting somewhere else, and I’m busy shooting at a different place, we barely get time. So right now I just want to get stuck on an island with her, so we get a couple of days off and be with each other. But once that’s done, then probably Kareena Kapoor. I’ve always had a fanboy crush on her and still do. But Sargun is definitely the number one priority,” said Ravi Dubey.

Do you know that the most Googled thing about you is – ‘Is Ravi Dubey married to Nia Sharma?’
Hearing this, he was quite surprised, and said, “I don’t know what to say. No, Ravi Dubey is very good friends with Nia Sharma and is married to Sargun Mehta.”
The strangest rumour you have heard about yourself?
He shared that when in 2007 he was doing a TV show, there was a girl who was playing his younger sister in it, and even in real life, the two began sharing a sibling-like chemistry. However, people began to think that two were dating.
What are the top songs on your current playlist?
The actor said that currently, the songs on his playlist are ‘Hot Launde’ by Badshah, and ‘Titliyaan’, which stars his wife Sargun Mehta in its video.
One thing you’re guilty of?
“Being judgemental. I’ve been verbalising this because I want to change it. I want to be more forgiving in life. If some people don’t meet certain parameters I end up distancing myself from them and then lose out on the opportunity to know them. I really want to change that,” Ravi Dubey shared.

‘Passionate, optimistic, and relentless,’ are the words that he would describe himself with.
Texting or talking?
“Talking. Texting sucks. So much gets left to the imagination when texting. One can misinterpret tones in texting. So talking is better,” he said.
Nia or Achint?
To this, the Jamai 2.0 actor had an interesting answer, as he said, “Nachint! I Iove them both. I have a very warm and long connection with both of them. And I owe the brand of Jamai to both of them.”

What was your first reaction when you got to know that Jamai 2.0 is happening?
He said that he was very excited and grateful to know that the fans have been giving ‘Jamai’ so much love for the last 7 years.
Favourite dialogue from Jamai 2.0 season 2?
He said that his favourite dialogue is, “Dil aur dimaag ki iss ladai mein, mera dil pichhe chhut raha hai. Meri Roshni pichhe chhut rahi hai.”
How was the experience shooting during the pandemic?
Ravi shared that the lockdown restrictions were already lifted when they started shooting. He also shared that everyone was craving to be on set and was missing the camera. “No matter how much self-shot content we put out from home, it’s different when it’s done on set, it’s more energizing,” he said.
What was the most challenging scene to shoot in Jamai 2.0 season 2?
Ravi shared that there is an intense scene between him and Nia Sharma, which is about a massive clash between Siddharth and Roshni and how their relationship comes to a tough point. He said that the couple has been looked up to till now, so that scene will be a shocking moment for the audience, too.

Will you choose love over family, like in Jamai 2.0?
“My character’s choice in the show is actually between love and revenge. But when it comes to love and family, I think they both are on the same side. One has to find a middle path in this,” he said.
How has your character evolved in Jamai 2.0 season 2?
Ravi shared that his character, Siddharth in Jamai 2.0 season 2, is edgier, greyer, more burnt, and more scorned. “He carries more baggage. He still loves Roshni with his heart and also has his moral compass. He has certain unpredictability. His baggage supersedes his heart and moral compass at one point and at times it’s the other way round. So there is a constant conflict for Siddharth.”
One fact about Nia and Achint that fans don’t know?
About Nia Sharma, Ravi Dubey shared, “I meet everyone on the set after pack up. I stay on the set for about 30-40 minutes, hang out with everyone. Nia, on the other hand, leaves immediately after pack-up. She is also very punctual, attentive, and alert. I love Nia as a person. She cannot be pretentious, and is very natural.”
And about Achint Kaur, he said, “Achint ma’am has seen a lot in her life and is a bundle of experiences. These experiences of hers translate on-screen too, which makes her a great artist. Nia and Achint ma’am seems like a daughter-mother pair from a different lifetime.”

Ravi Dubey went on to give multiple reasons to watch this exciting next season of Jamai 2.0. He said, “Nia has performed brilliantly, Achint ma’am has given a fantastic performance and her character, DD, gets very complicated this time. Also, Vin and Priya are the new additions to the show and have done a marvellous job. Madhu sir and Aarambhh, the DOP and director of the show, have done a great job in bringing it to life. Also, watch it for the chemistry between Sid and Roshni.”
