Deepika Padukone, who was earlier given a higher pay than her co-actors in Padmaavat has reportedly been dropped out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra as the actress demands equal pay as her co-actor and husband, Ranveer Singh.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Baiju Bawra is currently one of the most talked-about projects in the film industry. According to reports, Ranveer Singh has been finalized for the role of Baiju, while Deepika Padukone was being considered for the role of his love interest. However, seems like we won’t be having another Ranveer-Deepika-SLB reunion, as Deepika is reportedly out of consideration for the film over remuneration issues.

Deepika Padukone has always been an advocate for demanding pay parity among male and female co-actors. In fact, she has successfully gotten equal or even higher pay than her co-actors in certain movies, the case in point being SLB’s Padmaavat. However, this time her demand for pay equal to her co-actor and husband Ranveer Singh didn’t settle well with the makers. And unfortunately, Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s team had to drop her from consideration for Baiju Bawra‘s female lead.

“Apparently, Deepika wants the same remuneration as her husband. Not a penny more, not a penny less,” said a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama in an exclusive report. The source added, “In a way, it works out for the better. Four Ranveer – Deepika films in a row from Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have been excessive, don’t you think?”

After Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, Baiju Bawra could’ve been the fourth collaboration between the artists. The film will be Bhansali’s rendition of the 1952 musical megahit film directed by Vijay Bhatt, starring Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari as Baiju and Gauri. And now with Deepika out of question, the team will soon be looking for another Gauri to Ranveer’s Baiju.
