Diljit Dosanjh Bags Ali Abbas Zafar’s Next Film On ’84 Anti-Sikh Riots?

After giving a stellar performance in ZEE5‘s Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, the powerhouse of talent Diljit Dosanjh is again bagging headlines. But, this time, not for his online war of words with Kangana Ranaut or his two cents on the farmers’ bills. This time, he is grabbing the attention for his upcoming Bollywood venture, which will be based on a real-life incident. Yes! You read it right. The actor has been locked for Ali Abbas Zafar‘s next film on ’84 Anti-Sikh riots.

Interestingly, it is said that since the upcoming film will be a period drama and set in the ’80s, several details had to be incorporated while creating the set, which will include a chawl, and a two-storied building. It is also said that the makers are planning to roll the upcoming movie by January 9. Meanwhile, the upcoming project is close to Zafar’s heart and thus he is keen to kick-start the year with this film and has been personally looking into the set-designing.

Coming to the 1984 riots, it is also known as the 1984 Sikh Massacre. It was a series of organised attacks against Sikhs in India following the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguard. The history says that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots killed more than 3000 Sikhs in Delhi and about 8000 people across the entire nation. Interestingly, the actor-singer has already worked on a similar subject previously, which was a Punjabi film titled Punjab 1984.

On account of the same, Diljit’s 2014’s release bagged the National Award for ‘Best feature film in Punjabi’. On the other hand, there are many stories around the subject, but the upcoming film will be a different one from what Diljit has already done. Meanwhile, we are still waiting for Diljit and Ali to make an official announcement of the same to confirm their alliance.

Talking about Diljit Dosanjh’s Bollywood career, he has found popularity in Indian showbiz with his versatile roles in films like Good Newwz and Soorma, among many others. He marked his Bollywood debut back in 2016 with Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor starrer Udta Punjab.
