Let’s learn a quick and healthy sweet dish before Diwali and add some traditional touch to our modern lives.

There are only a few days left until the town turns red with the celebratory lights and vibes. Diwali is an occasion of utmost importance. From cleaning up the surrounding and selves to praying to books and tools, this festival is believed to bring fortune. While we’re talking about special items during #KhushiyonKiDiwali, let’s not forget the star of the festivities – the sweet dessert with a healthy twist – Sathu Pindi.

Enjoy the festivities-filled film, Brahmotsavam here:

Without any further ado, here’s what you need to make Sathu Pindi Ladoos – split chickpeas, corn kernels, sesame seeds, cardamom powder and some fresh ghee. (In Telugu: Chanaga Pappu, Mokkajonna ginjalu, Nuvvulu, elakula powder and naiyyi.)

First, place a large cooking bowl on the stove and keep the flame on medium-high. Then, add some fresh ghee to the vessel and wait until it turns a little hot. Now, add the corn kernels to the vessel and place a lid on top of it. To ensure that air isn’t released, place another vessel on the lid. In just a few minutes, you will hear the corn kernels turn into popcorn. But hey, hold up! That’s not our snack yet.

Once done, place the vessel with popcorn aside and take another cast iron kadhai and roast the sesame seeds slightly. Add the popcorn, roasted sesame seeds, split chickpeas and cardamom powder to a grinder. Grind the ingredients coarsely and take it all out in another plate. While the mixture is still warm, divide them into small and equal proportions and make small balls out of it.
