Enrique Iglesias reclaims record of most No. 1s on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart
HollywoodJ Balvin briefly tied with Enrique on the chart for holding 31 No. 1s on the Latin Airplay Chart. But Enrique inched ahead of Balvin with his latest track, a summer anthem
Enrique Iglesias, the king of Latin pop, has reclaimed his record for the most No. 1s on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart with his latest track “Me Pasé,” featuring Farruko, topping the charts, Billboard declared.
Enrique has created a record with 32 No.1s on the list, inching past Colombian singer, songwriter, rapper, J Balvin, who has 31 leads with his “In Da Getto,” made in collaboration with Skrillex, which was No. 1, as per the September 11 count.
According to MRC Data, “Me Pasé” topped the Latin Airplay with 11.3 million impressions in the United States in the week ending September 26.
Enrique holds the record since 1996
Enrique has the distinction of holding the record for the most No. 1s on the Latin Airplay chart continuously since 1996 (a long running feat considering that the Latin Airplay Chart started in 1994). It was only for a brief time this year that Enrique tied with J Balvin for 31 most No. 1s on the chart with the latter’s hit track, “In Da Getto” topping the list.
Farukko, a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, ranking has also been raised in 2021.
“Me Pasé” is one of the tracks, considered as the summer anthem of Enrique’s album “Final”, which was released in July 2021. “Final” was released seen years after Enrique’s album “Sex & Love”. The music video of “Me Pase” has been directed by Alejandro Perez, and was shot in the beaches of Samana town of the Dominican Republic.
‘Te Fuiste”and “Pendejo” are among the other tracks of the album.
Enrique began his North American arena tour on September 25 that will go on till November 20. The tour was kick started in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Ricky Martin co-headlining the tour.
Life and career
Enrique was born on May 8, 1975 to Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and his Filipinian mother Isabel Preysler. Enrique carved a niche of his own despite his father being a legendary musician.
