Everyone’s Enjoying! Critics And Audiences Praise ZEE5 Original Chadarangam Ft. Srikanth
BollywoodMany critics and viewers of the latest ZEE5 original, Chadarangam, are showering heavy praises for the political-drama. Here’s what they have to say.
The latest ZEE5 Original Chadarangam has bagged high points from us and from many others. The latest ZEE5 Telugu Original comes as the next big show after the mega-success of Gods Of Dharmapuri. Where the Anish Kuruvilla directorial was a gangster-family drama on the succession of power, Chadarangam is a pure political-drama. The Meka Srikanth starrer takes inspiration from the events of NTR’s reign as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Director Raj Anantha takes considerable creative liberty in fictionalising the events, but brings out a crisp story at the screen.

We definitely enjoyed the nine-episode drama as it unlayered many facets of human nature, both the good and the bad. Online entertainment portals too have praised the show. Talking about the direction, Pakoo.in wrote, “Director Raj Anantha has done a brilliant job in expressing the character of Gangadhar. The very human nature of him is described at his highest potential. What is done to him by his foes and allies, how he tackled them is the mainstream idea of Web series Chadrangam (2020). The screenplay evolution of juxtaposing past events in the present is commendable. Still, there is a lot of fiction involved.”
LetsOTT.com shared, “Raj Anantha’s effort rises above being a lip service to the actor-politician, given it focuses more on mind-games, the essential motives of the characters and political drama effectively.” We found no one who did not talk about Ravi Prakash’s performance. Critics from binged.com reviewed, “the surprise element is Ravi Prakash as Bapineedu – who finally gets a solid character arc that taps his impressive range as an actor.”
Actor Srikanth makes a remarkable comeback after being away from the screen, and failing to present a hit. Reviewers back this stance and Srivathsan Naadhur of Binged.com wrote, “Chadarangam changes the game completely for him. With a solid script that suits Srikanth’s persona, age and experience like a T, the veteran actor comes up with one of his career-best performances, where he is in complete control of the proceedings. The dhoti look and the bespectacled appearance has suited him well.”
Binged.com further spoke, “The series is successful in introducing us to the humane side of its lead character – his integrity, his weaknesses, his follies and unpredictability – that sometimes even catches his insiders by surprise”. LetsOTT.com concluded by, “The homework done by writers on that front is certainly impressive. The subplot about a drug racket being busted, the love triangle around the communication officer, are reasonably well-written but could have been more organically integrated into the plot.”
