Exclusive: “Guddan And AJ’s Wedding Sequence Is My Favourite,” Reveals Kanika Mann

“Nishant apne career mein bahot saari shaadiyan kar chuka hai. Par Kanika ki pehli shaadi thi onscreen,” actress Kanika Mann excitedly reveals as she talks about her Zee TV show Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega. The daily soap has been performing exceedingly well and is one of the favourite Indian television shows watched regularly by the audience. The serial is an unusual love story of a 20-year-old Guddan and a much-older Akshat Jindal aka AJ, played by Nishant Singh Malkani. Ahead of the prestigious Zee Rishtey Awards 2019, we happened to catch Kanika in a good mood on a Wednesday evening to talk about ZRA, Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega and more. Read excerpts from the exclusive conversation below.

Q. Tell us your favourite scene of Guddan and AJ from the show. 

A. I was very excited for the wedding sequence. Nishant would be bored that he’d have to wear the same clothes again and again. I was super happy and would look forward to what would happen next during the shoot. Nishant would tell me, ‘What is happening, we are not getting married for real, why are you so excited?’ It was all very new for me, wearing the bridal trousseau, chooda, etc., so it was all very exciting. Till date when we discuss our scenes, we recall how I was so excited during the wedding sequence shoot (chuckles).

Q. Guddan and AJ make for a pair that is not commonly seen on the small screen. Your comments?

A. I was scared when I was told the male lead character would be elder to Guddan. I was thinking whether or not the actor will be older and friendly. People ask me a lot, why you said ‘yes’. I reply that it is the character. I am not dying my hair grey and playing an 80-year-old. Guddan is an interesting character because at 20 she becomes a mother-in-law, a wife, and  stepmother to AJ’s three sons.

Q. One lesson every couple should learn from Guddan and AJ? 

A. (laughs) People should learn from Guddan and AJ that girls have a superpower. AJ used to be so stubborn and adamant that he’d ill-treat his second wife, he’d only love his first wife. But Guddan changed it all, and as seen in the latest episodes, AJ probably now loves Guddan even more than he loved Antara.
