BollywoodFrom bringing his food from home to learning to do his make-up, Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay’s Karna Sen tells us about lockdown and life post it. Read on.
The super popular Zee Bangla TV show Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay has returned after the lockdown with all new episodes! #EntertainmentUnlocked saw the release of all new episodes after a long time, so there is a whole bunch of exciting fun all over again. Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay is the story of Radhika (played Swastika Dutta) and her boss, Karna Sir. These two stand as testimony to the adage that ‘opposites attract’. Radhika is bubbly and cheerful, while Karna is mostly angry and intense. Their chemistry is more than palpable, and we are just waiting for the day they become an official couple! We spoke to Krushal Ahuja who plays Karna in the serial, and asked him how it feels to be resuming shooting again. Here are the edited excerpts.
Watch an episode from Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay here:
Q: How did you spend your time during the lockdown?
A: I did nothing basically — I was just waiting for shooting to start! (laughs) I was just watching movies on OTT platforms and learning how to play the guitar. Playing the guitar is something I’d always wanted to do, so I made progress with that. I’ve improved quite a bit but of course, there is a long way to go. Other than that I practised doing yoga and meditation — not sure how long that will last, but I definitely started with them.
Q: What do you think you will miss most at the sets from now on?
A: Most probably the usual excitement to work. That’s because after the lockdown as the pandemic is still going on, there are a lot of restrictions that we will have to follow. I was just talking to our director, and we were discussing how there will be a lot of stuff that we won’t be able to do anymore. We are now maintaining social distancing and wearing masks. Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay is a love story, right? Usually we would build it up as we would a romance, but now we have to rethink that aspect entirely. So yeah, I will probably miss the way we could work before and I’m worried that creativity might get curbed.
Q: Were you excited for shooting to resume, or were you a bit apprehensive?
A: Both! I had mixed feelings because even though I was definitely excited to be able to shoot again after 85 days (yes, I was counting!), I was nervous at the same time because we still don’t have a vaccine yet. The virus is still out there. But we can’t not work either — the vaccine will probably take at least a year to arrive and we can’t sit idle the whole time! Since we are going to work, we need to see the positive side of things.
Q: Are you personally taking any extra precautions as you shoot now since the pandemic is still going on?
A: Oh yeah, I’m bringing my own food from home and not sharing it with anyone! I’m no longer sharing stuff like food and personal items anymore (laughs). All the things I would take from the production house earlier, I am now bringing from home. And of course, sanitisers, masks, and social distancing are the order of the day. Even face shields and make-up! I would watch all these futuristic videos with contraptions like face shields, but I never thought we will have to use something like that so soon! Also earlier, we had a make-up artist do our make-up, but now we are learning how to do it ourselves. There is a make-up guy of course, to supervise and instruct us for the first couple of days, but after that we will have to do it on our own. For guys it’s quite basic, but for girls it’s quite elaborate!
Q: Can you give us a hint about what’s going to happen in Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay? Will Radhika and Karna finally become a pair?
A: I don’t think it will happen anytime soon actually to be honest. We are changing the scripts and execution to accommodate the circumstances, but I think the audience will understand, given the times. I think there will be more ishaaron ishaaron mein baatein. Maybe we’ll chat through WhatsApp more! There are lots of things we can still do though. It’s going to be all about being practical. Some things may sound great in theory but in practice on the set it may be different. I really don’t know what will happen, but let’s see how it goes.
Q: What message would you like to leave for all your fans out there?
A: Like I said, I know there are going to be lots of limitations, but even the fans are aware of the current situation. We are coming back though, so thanks for the support! We want to meet your expectations, and the excitement is still at a hundred percent!
