Ever wondered how different web series and films are in their respective processes? Shoot-out At Alair actor Meka Srikanth answers.

Web shows have joined the league of content consumption and we see many capable actors, who are legends in their own right, venturing out into this new form of storytelling. Shoot-out At Alair is one such attempt at telling the story surrounding the Mecca Masjid blasts in Hyderabad and its aftermath. We had the chance to catch up with Meka Srikanth himself who plays IG Praveen Chand and we grabbed the chance of asking him if he found working on a web series any different than working on a film.

Q: You’ve worked extensively for films. Is shooting for a web series any different?

A: Not really. It takes the same effort in the making. Perhaps a little more. A Film ends in 2 hours. But a web series needs to have an interesting ending for each episode and also a hook to watch the next episode. For an actor, I think the expressions need to be realistic and not dramatic.

Q: What makes this role more challenging than the other characters you’ve played in the past?

A: As I told before, an actor needs to give very realistic expressions for a web series. In films, we would take the liberty of being a little dramatic in the body language or expressions. Though I played a cop in films before, IG Praveen Chand is in a completely different meter!

Q: Anand Ranga makes his digital directorial debut with Shoot-out at Alair. Share your experience of working with him.

A: I knew Anand Ranga as he had directed Oye. But I am working with him for the first time. He has superb clarity over the subject and he knows exactly what he wants.

Q: We know that the story is based on case files, but are there moments in the story that have been elevated or added, to refine the experience of the story?

A: Yes of course. Part of it is fictionalised. The makers made sure that justice was done to the script.
