EXCLUSIVE: Wait For Some Jaw-Dropping Twists In Khasma Nu Khani, Says Navdeesh Arora

The Punjabi TV show Khasma Nu Khani has made its leads Navdeesh Arora, Harsimran Oberoi and Sukhpreet Trehan into household names. In the first part of an interview with ZEE5, Navdeesh shared his views on his personality which is the complete opposite of his character. In the second and final part of this interview, Navdeesh has some other secrets to share. Read on to find out what they are! Here are edited excerpts:

Q. How did you get the role of Arman in Khasma Nu Khani?

A. I was working on my songs and was looking to do web shows and films. I had been offered a web series. But there were intimate scenes in it, and I didn’t want to do them, so I rejected it. One of my friend who is casting department of Zee Punjabi, convinced me enough about the show. She made me send my photos and audition clips. The production team liked my audition but asked for another one. The one I sent was Arman’s lovey-dovey moments with Simple. Now they asked me to enact a scene where Arman is cursing and fighting with Desho. I remember that on Dussehra, the team called me…they wished me and then congratulated me for bagging the lead role in Khasma Nu Khani. I couldn’t believe myself and I was very happy.

Q. Are you satisfied with your decision to do the show? 

A. I’m glad I took this risk. I’m getting a thunderous response from the Punjabi audience. They keep messaging me about my role and character. The love I’m getting from the Punjabi audience is something extraordinary. They’re really loyal and once they like you, they will keep supporting you. The only drawback I’m facing is from the Hindi audience. They keep asking to do something in Hindi too. But I’m assuring them that something good is coming their way.

Q. How Does Navdeesh Arora see Arman? What is your interpretation of the character? 

A. Arman is a lost person. He is being fooled by a girl (Simple). If you see Arman from that point of view, you will pity him. Whatever Arman does with his wife, kid, or his best friend Tarunpal (Gurpreet Maan), the reason behind it is Simple. So, if you take Simple out of Arman’s life, he’s a good person. From the audience’s point of view, I think Arman should rectify his mistakes and he should improve himself. He is not a bad person but he is too dumb to understand the importance of family (laughs).

Q. Are there any other Punjabi serials or characters that you like? 

A. I really like Aman (Rohit Handa from Tu Patang Main Dor) and Deshveer (Jashn Kohli from Kamli Ishq Di). These characters are written so well, that even if you narrate their story, you can visualise it. Such stories are destined to be a super hit. If I was not doing my show… then I would love to do these shows.

Q. Lastly, what can we expect in the future in Khasma Nu Khani?

A. If the lockdown hadn’t happened, Khasma Nu Khani would have set the stage on fire. I’m not bragging about my show, but I know the story. There will be some jaw-dropping twists. Arman and Desho’s life will go through a 360-degree change. Arman will not be the same and Desho will also surprise you. I’m eagerly waiting with my team to shoot, and it will be very entertaining to watch.
