Fashion Designer Virgil Abloh Passes Away; Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor And Others Mourn His Death

Virgil Abloh, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear and founder of fashion line Off-White. The creative legend passed away on November 28, Sunday, following a private multi-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. LVMH and the official page of Virgil Abloh announced the sad news. The French luxury goods giant said that 41-year-old Abloh had been battling cancer privately for years.
Virgil was one of the first Black designers to head a European Luxury house and made an unforgettable mark on the fashion world. He transformed not just what consumers wanted to wear, joining streetwear and the luxury world, but what brands wanted in a designer. As soon as the news of his sad demise broke, the celebrities in the Bollywood industry began to mourn his death on social media.
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar took to his Instagram story to express his sorrow. He wrote, “This is just heartbreaking! RIP! What an immensely talented fashion force! He will be sorely missed, with a heartbroken heart along with it” on his story. He also shared a photo of the designer with his name and date of birth and date of death written on it.
Priyanka Chopra shared the designer’s picture on her Instagram story and penned down a small message. Her message for the late designer reads, “Gone too soon.”
Bollywood actress, Sonam Kapoor, sympathised with late Virgil’s family on her Instagram story. The Neerja actress wrote, “This is so sad. I feel for his family. So young and dynamic. Rest in peace”. She also shared one of Virgil Abloh’s Instagram posts alongside the note.
Actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor is shaken by Virgil’s death and he also penned down an emotional message in his Instagram post. “it’s going be Very hard to look at all the things I own that he’s created the same way but I will wear them with pride and always have great admiration and respect…” he wrote.
Abhishek Bachchan took to his Twitter handle to mourn the death of Virgil Abloh. He in his tweet wrote, “Rest in peace Virgil Abloh”.
