Flashback Friday: Rani Mukerji Reveals A Trick She Used To Avoid Falling In Love With Aamir Khan; You Must Know It

Rani Mukerji has made a name for herself in the late 1990s, and by the early 2000s, she was the reigning queen of Bollywood. So, when she recently appeared on a digital platform, she gave her viewers a sneak preview into her early days in Bollywood. When questioned if she has ever been nervous in front of a senior actor, Rani stated that while working in films such as Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, she was quite nervous to romance Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on-screen.

Rani stated that when she was 16-17 years old at the time, she’d seen Aamir and Shah Rukh on screen. She said, After seeing him in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, her heart would race. And she had a young crush on Shah Rukh after seeing him in Dilwale Dulhania. She also referred to SRK as ‘romance.’

She then admitted that she was afraid to look into Aamir’s eyes for fear of falling in love with him. She kept staring at his shoelaces when she got the chance to do a romantic scene with him (Aamir) in Ghulam. She also stated that ‘unko aise darr lag raha tha ki aise aankhon mein dekh le unke toh pyaar na ho jaye.’ Others were astounded by Rani’s revelations, and she or he added that Aamir taught her to romance on-screen, and he taught her well enough that she could now romance a tree. The Hum Tum actor then shared the story from the sets of Veer Zaara, in which she played a lawyer for Shah Rukh Khan’s Veer. Preity Zinta played Shah Rukh’s girlfriend in the film, and she and the actor had a father-daughter relationship while he played his lawyer. It was difficult for him and Rani to maintain a straight face throughout their scenes. She claimed that it took Yash Chopra’s intervention to get her to stop laughing. She also stated that If she has a scene with Shah Rukh, she wants to romanticise him by looking him in the eyes. But it’s not possible because they’d have to raise a father-daughter relationship, which neither of them can do. Finally, Uncle Yash chastised them so severely that they became nervous and vowed to do it correctly. She also quipped that now that she has learnt so well that she can romance even with a tree.
