From Shashank Ketkar To Abhijeet Khandkekar, ‘Heroes’ Who Turned Baddies For Their Shows

Seldom does it happen that a ‘hero’ takes up a negative role for his new show or movie. Actors generally carve a niche for themselves either as protagonists or antagonists. Very few and versatile stars experiment with both the roles and even fewer nail it brilliantly. Such multitalented actors deserve a hat-tip for their skills and for their will to experiment with different facets of acting. On that note, let us take a look at a few ‘heroes’ from Marathi TV who turned into baddies for their shows.

1. Shashank Ketkar

Ketkar rose to fame due to his show Honar Sun Me Hya Gharachi. He won our hearts as Shreerang Gokhale and became a household name as the epitome of an ideal husband. After a hiatus of 4 years, he returned to Zee Marathi as Pahila Na Me Tula’s Samar. A rich, conniving and obsessive man who’s hell-bent on winning a girl. We think Ketkar aced both these roles brilliantly and he deserves a lot of appreciation for them.

2. Abhijeet Khandkekar

Abhijeet has come a long way from his Mazya Priyala Preet Kalena days. It was a very famous Zee Marathi show where Khandkekar played the lead protagonist named Abhijeet Pendse. A few years later, he featured in another TV show named Mazhya Navryachi Bayko wherein he played the negative role of a devious man named Gurunath.

3. Adwait Dadarkar

Adwait Dadarkar’s Soumitra from Mazhya Navryachi Bayko was loved by everyone. His character was deemed as husband goals and he totally deserved that. However, his current role as Soham in Aggabai Sunbai is anything but husband goals. Soham is a fraud, a cheater and a manipulative man who keeps hurting his family.

4. Subhodh Bhave

Subodh Bhave has played the hero in many television shows such as Zee Marathi’s Abhilasha, Kulvadhu, Vadalvaat etc. However, his negative role as Vikrant Saranjame in Tula Pahate Re is the one that will always be the most memorable. In fact, we thought he’s the good guy on the show but his true colours were revealed towards the end.

5. Atul Parchure

Can you imagine the comedy king of Marathi shows Atul Parchure in a negative role? Over the years, he has made us laugh with a myriad of comic roles and we love him dearly. However, he will now be stepping into an antagonistic role on Majha Hoshil Na and we’re really looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us.
