Ghoomketu: Nawazuddin Siddiqui Unveils New Look. First Poster, Teaser Out

Due to the lockdown caused by the spread of the deadly coronavirus, movie producers and directors have decided to release their films digitally. One such film is Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Ghoomketu, which release on May 22, 2020, on ZEE5. On Wednesday, the makers of Ghoomketu dropped the first official poster of their film on Instagram.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared the poster of the film on his Instagram handle. The poster was captioned, “Hello Bambai shehar! Tayyaar ho jaao Bollywood ke sabse rangeen writer ki kahaani dekhne ke liye. #Ghoomketu, aa raha hai 22nd May ko, sirf #ZEE5 par. @Nawazuddin_S #IlaArun #RaghubirYadav @swanandkirkire @mahonawala @anuragkashyap72”.

In the poster, Nawazuddin, who is essaying the role of Ghoomketu is seen at what looks like a railway station that has a Bollywood station signboard. He can be seen sitting on a rolled up sleeping bag and with his pitara by his side, looking at the big city with  eyes full of dreams.

Ghoomketu ,who aspires to become a Bollywood writer, hails from a small village in UP. To achieve his dreams, he runs away from his hometown and comes to Mumbai in the hope of making it big in Bollywood as a writer.

In the teaser, Ghoomketu reaches Mumbai, and is glad to be in the city of dreams. He is seen enjoying every bit of Mumbai and one can see him having a good conversation with a bhelpuri wala. Ghoomketu perfectly depicts a joy an outsider feels, as he explores the city. 

Anurag Kashyap as Badlani plays a lazy and corrupt cop who has been assigned to find Ghoomketu within 30 days. One fine day, Ghoomketu comes to police station and tells Badlani to file a complaint, as someone has robbed his book wherein he had written the script of various movies. In the fun banter between Ghoomketu and Badlani, the former reveals his name and the inspector is in shock to see him. The movie showcases glimpses of Bollywood celebs including Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha.

The popular B-town actor Nawazuddin shared the teaser of the film and captioned it as, “Aa raha hai yeh apni kahaani, apne andaaz mein sunaane… #Ghoomketu! 22nd May ko, sirf #ZEE5 par (sic).”

The story of Ghoomketu is about how after reaching Mumbai, Ghoomketu writes on various subjects, inspired by day to day mundane life activities. But his family uses their political connection and tells the cops to bring back Ghoomketu. The responsibility of finding Ghoomketu is given to Badlani (Anurag Kashyap) and he has been instructed to find Ghoomketu within 30 days.

The film is directed by Pushpendra Nath Mishra, and produced by Phantom Films and Sony Pictures Networks (SPN). Apart from Nawazuddin, the movie features Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun, Raghubir Yadav, Swanand Kirkire and Ragini Khanna in pivotal roles. Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, Chitrangada Singh, Lauren Gottlieb and filmmaker Nikhil Advani have made special appearances in the movie.
