Ajith Kumar, who was born in Hyderabad, to a Sindhi and a Palakkad Tamilian, went on to rule Tamil Nadu, ever since he set foot in the industry. The Thala celebrates his 50th birthday, and here are a few facts about the Nerkonda Paarvai actor that will tell you everything he has been through to be the star he is today.

1) Ajith and his schooling 

Ajith attended the Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School till the 10th grade, after which he dropped out of school. He then took up a job at Enfield and went on to be trained as a mechanic. He made the most unconventional choices ever since his childhood!

2) Ajith and his career

Ajith’s father wanted him to have a white-collar job because of which he gave up on his career as a mechanic. He then joined his family friend’s garment exporting company as an apprentice where he soon became a business developer. Ajith later set up his own garment company, and when his business did not take off, he took up modelling assignments alongside another job in the garment sector.

3) Where it all began for Thala

When he started taking up modelling assignments, he was spotted by the ace cinematographer, P.C Sreeram, who thought that Ajith had what it took to become an actor. Wasn’t he absolutely right?

4) Number of films 

Ajith has over 60 films to his name, ever since he began his career in 1990. His last film was Nerkonda Paarvai, that released in 2019, and is available on ZEE5!

Ajith’s fascination for automobiles is very evident, and the fact that he was one of India’s top 3 Formula race drivers proves it yet again. His acting assignments did not stop him from pursuing his career as a racer!

Ajith has over 22 awards to his name, including a Kalaimamani, and three Tamil Nadu State Film awards! All of them were well deserved, and we would love to see him rule the industry for many more years.
