BIRTHDAY SPECIAL: 10 Best Songs Composed By Harris Jayaraj

Music composer Harris Jayaraj celebrates his 45th birthday today. Over the years in the industry, Jayaraj’s music has put him on the map. Thanks to his compelling take on music, he has won several accolades and is recognised as one of the best music composers the industry has to offer. Harris Jayaraj has also been honoured with the Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the former Governor of Tamil Nadu, Konijeti Rosaiah.

Right from the age of 6, when young Jayaraj began learning Carnatic music, he showed that he had a flair for his chosen profession. His father wanted him to become a guitarist and sent him to train in classical guitar. He went on to score top marks in Asia, in his 4th grade at the Trinity College of Music, London. At the age of 12, Jayaraj began his musical career as a guitarist. With time, the composer also experimented with a keyboard, developed an interest in synthesizers, started programming with his Roland MC-500 and more.

Jayaraj’s admiration for music composers MS Viswanathan, AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, further pushed him towards working hard and finding himself in the league of great music composers. And so, on his birthday, we would like to recollect some of Harris Jayaraj’s best works!

Nenjukkul Peidhidum – Vaaranam Aayiram

Sung by Hariharan, the melodious track received fame and acclaim, as one of the most romantic songs of all time!

Halena – Iru Mugan

Released in 2016, this track from Iru Mugan hit the right chords among music fans, while Vikram serenaded Nayanthara onscreen.

Hasili Fisiliye – Aadhavan

Harris Jayaraj’s compositions for Aadhavan are all amazing. Hasili Fisiliye, crooned by Karthik and Maya Sricharan, became a sensation and how!

Ennamo Yeadho – KO

Performed by Aalap Raju, the song, with it’s fun and romantic beats, found itself on everyone’s playlist.

Unakkenna Venum Sollu – Yennai Arindhaal

Many remember this track with Ajith Kumar, in which he is seen taking his onscreen daughter on a self-healing trip, while promising to protect her forever. The beautiful number with its impeccable melody, certainly made people emotional.

Vaarayo Vaarayo – Aadhavan

The video of Vaarayo Vaarayo is rather unconventional but the song, performed by P. Unnikrishnan, Chinmayi and Mega, went on to become a massive hit!

Ava Enna – Vaaaranam Aayiram

This heartbreaking track from Vaaranam Aayiram left many feeling sentimental, thanks to it’s soul-stirring music and relatable lyrics.

Anbe Anbe – Ithu Kathirvelan Kadhal

Sung by Harini and Raghavendra, the song Anbe Anbe, with it’s soulful background score and lyrics, is definitely worth all the hype.

Mun Andhi – 7 Aum Arivu

This track featuring Suriya and Shruti Haasan, is not just visually pleasing but is also melodious.

Thodu Vaanam – Anegan

When you rope in Hariharan as a background singer, expect to be amazed. This track from Anegan, with it’s compelling music, certainly keeps you hooked!

Harris Jayaraj is the music composer of Iru Mugan, a Tamil action adventure film, starring Chiyaan Vikram, Nayanthara and Nithya Menen, in pivotal roles. The plot revolves around an ex-RAW agent, Akhilan, who has been assigned to track down a criminal. The said villain is responsible for a dangerous attack on the Indian Embassy in Malaysia. As Akhilan takes up the assignment, the investigation leads him to cross paths with one of his old nemesis. How will Akhilan save the world from the latters’ conspiracy? Watch the film here on ZEE5!
