Kunal Kapoor is known as “Matthew McConaughey” of Bollywood. The actor has a wide variety of projects panned in his work graph. He started his career as an assistant director to Rakesh Omprakash Mehra on Aks and later got his break in Meenakshi by M. F. Hussain. He has done a few films but his acting skills are always hailed as good despite the performance of films. Here are his top five performances.
Rang De Basanti:
This film was a break-through movie when release and broke various records at the box office. Held as one of the greatest movies ever made in Bollywood, Rang De Basanti starred Kunal Kapoor in the role of Aslam Khan/ Ashfaqullah Khan. Aslam is friends with Karan, Laxman, Daljit, and Sukhi. When their air force pilot friend is killed due to the corruption of the Defence Minister they decide to avenge him through the martyrdom ideology of Indian Freedom Fighter Revolutionaries. Kunal Kapoor was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
GOLD:
The film is a sports-drama film based on the first Indian Hockey team to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games. Kunal played the role of Samrat, a character inspired by the hockey legend Dhyan Chand. Kunal in the role of Samrat guides the new hockey team formed just after the Independence of India along with team manager Tapan Das. Kunal’s performance was held as compelling.
AAJA NACHLE:
The film released in 2007 and played the role of Imran Pathan in this film. Imran agrees to play Majnu in the stage play in the film and is the love interest of Anokhi, a tomboy girl who is playing Laila. Imran keeps away from the Anokhi and is annoyed at every step by her. Kunal in the role of idealistic and little bit hot-headed Imran was praised.
DEAR ZINDAGI:
The film showed Kunal in the role of Raghuvendra, a film producer who shows interest in her cinematographer Kaira (Alia Bhatt) but later gets engaged to someone else. This breaks the heart of Kaira. Later Raghuvendra comes to offer Kaira a film to direct but she refuses to work with him. Although a small role, Kunal played it very well as sweet and charming Raghuvendra. The film was released in 2016.

LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG:
Laaga Chunari Mein Daag starred Kunal Kapoor in the role of Vivaan Varma who falls in love with Chutki (Konkana Sen Sharma) despite having first rejected her during interview thinking that she is a small-town girl and don’t have that x-factor. Later he is blown by her confidence and liberal attitude. The film was praised for its story and performance. The film released in 2007.
