Mrunmayee Deshpande is an established actress of the film industry who has appeared in several Marathi films. Interestingly, the actress debuted with a Bollywood film named Humne Jeena Sikh Liya in 2008. After carving a niche for herself in the Marathi industry, Mrunmayee tried her hand at direction. She recently made her directorial debut with Mann Fakira. Amongst her many talents, Mrunmayee also boasts of being an accomplished dancer. As the multi-talented actress celebrates her 32nd birthday today, we revisit the six films and TV shows on ZEE5 that the actress has featured in.

Based on a musical play by the same name, Katyar Kaljat Ghusali is a critically acclaimed film that depicts the clash of two great musicians- Panditji and Khansaheb. It is a brilliant portrayal of how music ultimately emerges as the winner in the game of honour, pride, and respect. The film used many songs from the original play which were recreated by trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The period drama also marked Subodh Bhave’s debut as a director. It would be a sin if we don’t mention the stunning star cast of the film which includes Mrunmayee, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Shankar Mahadevan and Subodh.

Mokla Shwaas is a Marathi drama starring Sharad Ponkshe, Prateeksha Lonkar, Mohan Joshi, and Mrunmayee. The film revolves around the story of a father of three daughters who is desperate for a son. His daughters are against regressive practices like sex determination and abortion, that their father supports. The film sheds light on female foeticide and hence is a must-watch. The wonderful performance by Mrunmayee is also not to be missed. Check out the film here.

Released in the year 2014, Pune Via Bihar is a romantic drama featuring Umesh Kamat, Bharat Jadhav, and Mrunmayee. The story revolves around the struggle of a couple who belong to two different states. They have to go through several ups and downs as their love story involves political conflict which makes it difficult for them to unite. Will they manage to survive past all the differences? Sanshay Kallol is a comedy film that revolves around the life of a married couple Jay and Asha. Chaos ensues as they suspect their respective partners of having an extramarital affair. The film is full of entertainment with rib-tickling comedy scenes shared between the couple. Mrunmayee plays the lead role opposite Ankush Chaudhari and Gauri Nigudkar. You can catch the film here.

Another entertaining film that Mrunmayee was part of is Shikari. The film is based on the life of Savita who aspires to enter the film industry. In her pursuit of fame, she reaches Mumbai and gets entangled in the web of deceit. Watch out for stellar performances by Suvrat Joshi, Prasad Oak, and Kashmira Shah who play important roles in the film along with Mrunmayee. Mrunmayee rose to fame with her stint in Kunku which aired on Zee Marathi back in 2012. The actress was paired opposite Sunil Barve in the show. Kunku revolved around the story of a free-spirited girl named Janki (Mrunmayee) who is forced to move out of the village following her marriage with a rich middle-aged widower.
