If you are familiar with the Marathi entertainment industry, Subodh Bhave is a name you must be well acquainted with. He’s one of the most popular names of Marathi cinema and has contributed significantly to films and television both. On his birthday, we take a look at some of his most popular roles, starting with Vikrant from Tula Pahate Re.

Subodh was seen as a successful business tycoon Vikrant Saranjame, who hid his true identity of being a manipulative and selfish man, who went to the extent of murdering people to achieve his goals. With his pepper hair and crisp suits, Subodh as Vikrant was truly irresistable. The actor proved that along with playing the good-boy next door, he is equally brilliant in playing a baddie.

Subodh is known as a chameleon, owing to his talent in mastering every genre with ease, be it drama, tragedy or comedy. The actor was seen in the latter in a film named Kiran Kulkarni Vs Kiran Kulkarni, which also starred Kranti Redkar. He displayed his impeccable comic timing as Kiran, a hard-working corporate lad whose world comes crashing down when he becomes a victim of identity fraud. Watch the film here.

Subodh left a mark as Sadashiv Gurav, in 2015 Marathi musical drama Katyar Karjat Ghusli. This critical, as well as commercial success, also features Sachin Pilgaonkar, Shankar Mahadevan, Sakshi Tanwar, Amruta Khanvilkar and Mrunmayee Deshpande. It tells the story of  two talented singers, Pandit Bhanu Shankar Shastri and Khansaheb Aftab Hussain Bareliwale, who engage in a royal tussle to win the title of Maharaj of the state of Vishrampur. Subodh Bhave was seen as Aniket Pradhan in this mystery thriller which also starred Mrinal Kulkarni and Harsh Chhaya among others. The film tells the story of Aniket, who is an ambitious man who can do anything to achieve his career goals. The twist in the tale comes in when his wife Mugdha, discovers skeletons in his closet. Subodh and Mohan Joshi entertained the audiences with their memorable performances as Vilas and Tatya in the film. It tells the story of the 83-year-old Taya, who is a huge fan of Saint Tukaram and wishes to fly in the Pushpak Viman like him. Watch this heartwarming film here.

Aside from the appearances, an actor’s mannerisms should also convince you of his age. Subodh nailed the same, playing a young lad Anant in the film. It tells the story of his dreams of becoming a singer. Anant travels to Mumbai and starts working in the music industry. In his journey, he comes across a spirited landlady, with a tragic past. The film showcases how he gets inspired by her thinking and uses the same in his career. Watch it here.
