Here’s All You Need To Know About Zee Tamil’s Singing Reality Show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’

The oldest running singing reality show in India – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, is also the first-ever singing talent hunt show on our Indian television. Popular channel Zee TV had launched it in 1995 which continues its grand legacy over two decades. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has been serving as a platform for aspiring singers to make it big in the industry; It has also significantly contributed to the country’s culture and music scenario. During these two decades, the show introduced the demigods of music like Shreya Ghoshal, Shekhar Ravjiani, Kunal Ganjawala and Kamal Khan, among others.

As Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa garnered humongous popularity, it expanded itself to reach out to wider audiences. Initially, it began to upgrade itself from Sa Re Ga Ma, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs and then Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge. Later, it was introduced in several other regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Odia, Marathi and Gujarati; making it convenient by ending the language barriers for viewers as well as contestants.

In Tamil, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has two properties – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors. Both properties not only aim to explore aspiring singers to showcase their talents but also bring families together to celebrate great music.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs was first aired in December 2016 and ran until May 2017. It had two seasons. Season 1 was won by Viswa Prasad who took away Rs 5 lakh as prize money. While Disathana took the first runner-up’s place, and Rakthash came second.

In the second season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs, Idhazhika became the title winner. Lil Champs provided a platform for talented kids between the age of 5 – 14 years to showcase their music. Hosted by Archana and Deepak Dinkar, the show featured judges like Karthik, Vijay Prakash and Sujatha Mohan.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors

Following the success of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors was introduced in October 2017; which went on to entertain its audience until April 2018. Seniors accepted singers between 18 to 60 years of age. In Season 1 of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors, Varsha emerged as the title winner. While Rockstar Ramaniammal claimed the first runner-up trophy and Srinidhi bagged the second runner-up position.

Contestants like Aishwarya, Lakshmi, Sukanya, Karthik and Aslam were the top 5 finalists of the second season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors. However, it was Aslam Abdul Majeed, who won the hearts of the audiences and emerged as the title winner.

Well, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is all set to complete 25 years and the channel will celebrate this occasion with a 25-hour virtual music marathon.
