Here’s Why Virajas Kulkarni And Gautami Deshpande’s Maza Hoshil Na Reminds Us Of Jab We Met
BollywoodRead on to find the striking similarities between the Zee Marathi show and the Bollywood flick featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
Maza Hoshil Na is based on the story of an unlikely couple Sai (Gautami Deshpande) and Aditya (Virajas Kulkarni). Despite hailing from different financial backgrounds, the couple has managed to hit it off and how! We just can’t stop gushing over their budding love story which is getting interesting by the day. After the initial fights, the two are now meeting almost on a daily basis to have tea, to learn to cycle, or just to hang out. You just can’t imagine a better start to their love story than this, right? Sai and Aditya’s crackling chemistry and romance reminds us of the Bollywood film Jab We Met starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. After rewatching the film over and over again (because Geet’s our favourite too!), we found out some striking similarities between them. Read on to find out why the Zee Marathi show reminds us of the superhit Bollywood flick.

We recently realised that the makers of Maza Hoshil Na might just have based the characters of Sai and Aditya on the protagonists of Jab We Met. Take for example Sai’s character which is an extrovert like Geet. Both these feisty ladies send sparks flying when they get down to talking. They are fun-loving, adrenaline junkies who can go to any extent to prove their point. Interestingly, Aditya’s character is also quite similar to Shahid Kapoor’s role in the film. Both of them own a company worth crores and are intellectually gifted. The only catch here is that Aditya isn’t aware that he secretly owns the company which he is currently working in. Both the protagonists have similar names, Aditya Kashyap, which is also an obvious reference to the film.
Apart from the similarities in characters, the makers of Maza Hoshil Na have also used Jab We Met references on several occasions. The latest one came in the recent episode where Sai decides to run away from the house after her family forces her to get married with Suyash. Remember how Geet had run away saying, “Main toh bhaag rahi hoon!” when her family had fixed her marriage with someone she didn’t like? Both Geet and Sai don’t want to get married and decide to get going. Some episodes earlier, Mrs Birajdar’s elite friends were quoted saying, “Akeli ladki khuli hui tijori ki tarah hoti hai” which is the exact dialogue popularised by the Bollywood flick. While the show used it to draw parallels to Sai’s outrageous behaviour, the dialogue in the film was a sarcastic comment on Geet’s character.
We would love to see Sai and Aditya end up together just like Geet and Aditya. Let’s keep our fingers crossed until then!
