If you go through her Instagram feed, you will find pictures of her balcony adorned with several plants.
Shreya is also extremely fond of flowers and often posts pictures of them on her Instagram.
Taking a cue from Shreya and her love for plants, we look at how indulging in planting and gardening can prove to be extremely therapeutic, especially in these trying times.
1. Relieves stress and anxiety
With the constant influx of negative news these days, one is bound to be stressed and anxious. However, studies have proved that planting can help relieve the same and make you feel calm. Looking at plants and smelling flowers instantly reduces your cortisol (a hormone that helps regulate stress) levels, thus helping you feel relaxed.
2. Elevates the mood
Being amidst nature can help one feel happy. Planting and gardening evoke positive emotions and release feel-good chemicals in the brain such as serotonin and dopamine.
3. Improves attention-span
People who have a poor attention span, especially those with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) can benefit greatly from planting, as it helps one focus better.
So now that you know the benefits of planting and gardening, are you set to get going? Post your thoughts in the comments section below!
