1. Dhadkan

Dev’s (Suniel Shetty) undying love for Anjanli (Shilpa Shetty Kundra) is goals! Dhadkan is an out-an-out romantic tale that you’ve been looking for. In Dharmendra’s famous dialogue from Sholay, the film has romance, drama and tragedy.  

Dhadkan tells the story of Dev who is madly in love with Anjali. She hails from a wealthy family whereas Dev is a poor man. Due to their class differences, Anjali’s family is against their relationship, thus, get their daughter married off to Ram (Akshay Kumar), who hails from an influential family.  

A twist in the tale comes in when Dev returns as a multi-millionaire, to win Anjali back. Will he succeed?

2. Taal

This film is a perfect mix of romance, entertainment, and glamour.  Taal tells the story of Mansi (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), an aspiring musician hailing from a middle-class family, who catches wealthy NRI Manav’s (Akshaye Khanna) fancy.  

Things go haywire between the two when Mansi’s family’s status is mocked by Manav’s father and relatives. She is discovered by music star Vikrant Kapoor (Anil Kapoor) who hones her talent and helps her become a singing and dancing sensation.  

Manav learns about the ill-treatment Mansi and her family is subjected to by his own relatives and sets out to make things right with her and win her back. But at this point, Vikrant has fallen for Mansi and wants to marry her.

3. Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya

If you still groove to a shirtless Salman Khan in O O Jaane Jaana, you are a 90s kid through and through! The actor is hilarious and quirky as Suraj who falls for Muskaan (Kajol) at the university that they are both studying in. Their relationship however is not accepted by Muskaan’s overbearing and overprotective brother Vishaal (Arbaaz Khan).  

But Suraj wants to win Muskaan by hook or crook and decides to visit her hometown to meet her. He runs into Vishal and begs him to accept his love for Muskaan but the latter doesn’t budge. To leave an impression on Muskaan’s stern brother, Suraj starts working as a stable boy at Vishal’s farm.

4. Pardes

This is a love story with a patriotic angle. Kishorilal (Amrish Puri) wants an Indian bride for his son Rajiv (Apoorva Agnihotri) who is based in the Us. He gets him set up with Ganga (Mahima Chaudhary), who is his friend Suraj’s (Alok Nath) daughter.  

But Ganga shares a deeper connection with Arjun (Shah Rukh Khan), who is Kishorlal’s foster son. While being engaged to Rajiv and spending time with him in the US, Ganga realizes that she misses India and Arjun.

5. Raja Hindustani

Who knew a love story between a lady and her cab driver would prove to be such a cult!  

Raja Hindustani is an unconventional tale about Raja (Aamir Khan), a taxi driver who is assigned to show around Aarti (Karisma Kapoor). During their time together, the two fall in love. But their relationship isn’t accepted by Aarti’s father.  

However, he comes around and gives the couple his blessing. But Aarti’s stepmother (Archana Puran Singh) is on a mission to destroy her and Raja’s relationship and creates differences between them.

6. Roja

Starring Madhoo and Arvind Swamy, this love story is a classic that can’t be missed.  

The film tells the story of Roja (Madhoo), a simple village girl from Tamil Nadu, who is on a mission to find her husband Rishi (Arvind), after he gets kidnapped by militants during a secret undercover mission being carried out in Jammu and Kashmir.

7. Yaadein

Don’t you miss Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan on the big-screen? The two made for a stunning pair in several films, including Yaadein. The film tells the story of Ronit (Hrithik) and Isha (Kareena) who fall in love, when they meet during a camping trip.  

However, their relationship is tested when Isha discovers that her father Raj (Jackie Shroff) is trying to set Ronit with the daughter of a business tycoon, who is a close friend.

8. Mann

This film gave us the refreshing pairing of Aamir Khan with Manisha Koirala. Mann tells the story of Priya (Manisha), an engaged woman who meets Dev (Aamir) a playboy, during a cruise. 

At first, she is repulsed by him, but eventually, she falls for him.

9. Baaghi

Starring Salman Khan and Nagma, this love story tells the story of a rebel who goes against all odds to be with his ladylove.  

Saajan (Salman) chances upon Kajal (Nagma), who works at a brothel and the two fall in love. Kajal is being controlled by Dhanraj who is evil and mistreats her. Saajan rescues Kajal and takes her to his parents, who ridicule her and reject their relationship. Meanwhile, Dhanraj is on the lookout for Kajal and wants to get her back to the brothel.  

Stuck between two opposing situations, Saajan and Kajal elope. Will they make it?

10. Judaai

This film is a classic example of how greed can destroy you. Kaajal (Sridevi) and Raaj (Anil Kapoor) are a married couple, living in a middle-class household. Kaajal however is unhappy with her life and dreams of living lavishly someday.  

Raaj has an encounter with Janhvi (Urmila Matondkar), a wealthy woman, who is enamored by him. She wishes to marry Raaj, despite him being already married to Kaajal. 

To win Raaj over, Janvi offers a whopping bribe to Kaajal, in exchange for the permission to marry him. She agrees for this arrangement. Raaj and Janhvi get married and the latter moves in.  

But things start falling apart when Janhvi starts becoming Raaj’s and the family’s favorite. Kaajal realizes that she has pushed her own family away by being greedy and self-involved.
