International Day of Forests is celebrated on March 21 all around the world and the theme for 2021 is “Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being.” Awareness about forest restoration and conservation can be spread very well by celebrities as they have many followers who might be inspired to follow the path shown by their favourite stars. Many times Bollywood actors have spoken up or taken action towards conserving forests and we want to celebrate those very moments on this occasion.

Dia Mirza
Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has always been very vocal when it came to raising her voice against ill practices against nature. She is the National Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Environment Program and she has often put on the cap of nature conserver. So when many trees of Aarey forest in Mumbai were cut for the construction of metro lines, Dia did not stay mum and tweeted her concerns. She further questioned the haste decision and tagged the Chief Minister’s Office and many other artists. She is among the many Bollywood actors who has always loved nature and never hesitated in standing up for it.

Shraddha Kapoor
Another prominent Bollywood actress who has raised her voice and protested against the slaughter of trees in Aarey was Shraddha Kapoor. The actress visited the site of deforestation and also spoke about it on Instagram. She posted a photo where she can be seen standing with other protesters holding a placard in heavy rain. In her caption, she wrote that the act was unacceptable and shocking and that it has to stop.

Nimrat KaurÂ
Popular Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur decided to take matters into her own hand instead of waiting for everyone else to do their bit. On the 70th birthday of her father, Nimrat and her sister decided to plant 70 trees in the Aarey forest and help with afforestation. Her father was an army officer and he was kidnapped and killed by a terrorist in Kashmir and to honour his memory, Nimrat decided to make this contribution.

Randeep Hooda
Famous Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda also took to Twitter and expressed his concerns about the cutting down of trees in the Aarey forest. He tweeted and said that the common citizen is helpless in this situation. He tagged the Prime Minister of India and then Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis and asked them to make the right call in this situation.
Sidharth Malhotra
The popular actor also tweeted about the Aarey movement and spoke up about his concerns in relation to the future generation. Malhotra urged the authorities to stop cutting trees and said that the amount of ecological imbalance the act of deforestation will cause is beyond their understanding and that for the sake of future generation, thesw trees should not be cut.
The Big B of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan was one of the first actors who took a step towards planting more trees around the world. He inspired his fans to do so when in 2008 he supported the United Nations’ Billion Tree Campaign and planted a tree in the UN Asia Pacific headquarters. With the huge fan following that he has, a small act of his created a huge impact on society.
