IPL 2021: 3 Reasons Why KKR Lost The Match Against CSK
Trending NewsKolkata Knight Riders faced their third consecutive defeat in IPL 2021 after losing by 18 runs against Chennai Super Kings. They are now in the bottom half of the points table.
IPL 2021 kickstarted on 9 April 2021. On 21 April, Chennai Super Kings were playing against Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK won the match while KKR failed to chase the target of 221 due to the players’ poor batting skills. Here’s a look at some reasons why Kolkata Knight Riders lost the match.
Faf Du Plessis played a magnificent inning of 95 not out from 60 balls. His partnership with youngster Rituraj was important as it set the pace for the CSK innings. CSK’s stubborn backing of Gaikwad paid off finally and the youngster made full use of the flat pitch and KKR’s poor bowling. Chennai Super Kings also maintained a good run rate throughout which allowed their batsmen to score more freely in the final overs with MS Dhoni, Ali, and others scoring more boundaries. Poor fielding from KKR also aided CSK’s players to score more.
Deepak Chahar ran through the KKR top-order and picked up 4 wickets in the first six overs of the powerplay and finished with figures of 4/29 in his 4 overs. He with Lungi Ndidi who also took a wicket in the powerplay restricted KKR to 45/5 in the first 6 overs which made the chase almost over but thanks to some incredible hitting from Andre Russel, Karthik, and Pat Cummins, KKR was able to take their total a bit closer.

KKR’s batting faltered again in this match and none of its top five batsmen managed to reach double figures while chasing a huge score of 221. Although we did witness a great fightback from Russel and Kartik and then after they departed Cummins being a bowler played an amazing inning but it was too much for the trio to do with no support from the top order and not a single run from the tailenders.
