Is Kriti Sanon’s First Female-Oriented Film, Mimi, Headed For A Direct OTT Release?

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon is one of the most in-demand actresses right now. Right from her debut in Heropanti to her last Panipat, the actress has just polished her skills and gotten better. Currently, the actress has many films in her kitty, including films like Bhediya, Aadipurush, Bachchan Pandey and more. However, the actress hadn’t done a woman-centric film, that is, until now. With her upcoming release Mimi, Kriti will be seen venturing into that forte as well.

Sharing her look from the film, Kriti Sanon recently took to Instagram to share a motion poster of the film. She wrote, “This July, expect the extraordinary from the ordinary! Stay tuned”. In the poster, the actress can be seen sporting a baby bump, indicating that there’s a pregnancy in the cards. Moreover, she has also mentioned July, which means the film is slated to release in this month itself.

If the film is scheduled to release this month, it will obviously opt for an OTT release as a majority of states in India have their cinema theatres shut down due to COVID-19 induced lockdown. Even sources confirm that the makers are looking for a direct OTT release for this film. According to some sources, the film might premiere on Hotstar although no official announcement has been made in that regard yet.

Mimi will also feature Kriti’s Bareilly Ki Barfi co-star Pankaj Tripathi in a prominent role. Helmed by Laxman Utekar, the film is loosely based on the Marathi film ‘Mala Aai Vhhaychy!’. Mimi will see Kriti Sanon essaying the role of a surrogate mother, as the film talks about surrogacy with a pinch of humour.
