Here are times when Geet gave befitting replies to her in-laws and taught them some much-needed lessons.

Zee Bangla’s popular serial Jamuna Dhaki stars Sweta Bhattacharya as Jamuna and Rubel Das as Sangeet in the lead roles. Sangeet’s sister Geet has always been straightforward and bold when it comes to presenting her opinion in front of anybody. Her in-laws are quite orthodox and ill-mannered but every time they try to suppress her, Geet always gives them a befitting reply. Be it standing up for Jamuna in front of her in-laws or replying back to their taunts, here are times when Geet gave fitting replies to her in-laws for their unacceptable behaviour.

When Geet asked her mother-in-law to ‘try’ her

In one of the episodes, Geet and Ved are seen enjoying their personal time, when her mother-in-law comes to their room and tells Ved not to go to the Ray household for Valentine’s Day celebration as Jamuna will be present there. She says that they should only socialise with people of a similar social status, else society will laugh at them. She says that if they fail to listen to her, she will throw them out of the house. Geet laughs and says she would like her to try to throw her out, but she isn’t leaving the house and it is actually them who should learn manners.

When Geet taught them how to respect women

On the occasion of Dol, the Ray family invites Geet’s in-laws to spend the festival at their house. However, they refuse to do so as Jamuna lives in that house and she is a dhaki’s daughter. Geet very clearly tells her mother-in-law that there is no difference between Jamuna and herself as they both are women and in every woman resides a Goddess. She says that the woman that her mother-in-law is insulting in front of everyone is no less than any other woman.

When Geet refused to go to her in-laws’ house

After her marriage, Geet and Ved are supposed to go to Ved’s house but Geet refuses to go there in the car. She starts throwing a tantrum and says that she will only travel by bus. When her in-laws start saying that they are insulting them, she says that she is doing so because Ved’s uncle insulted her whole family and said rude things to Jamuna. She says that before the wedding they have created many problems for her and her family but now it is her turn to do so.

When Geet refused to do wedding rituals without Jamuna

Ved’s family members insulted Jamuna a lot during Geet’s wedding and this led to her leaving the Ray household so that the wedding can be completed in peace. When Geet’s bhaat kapor ceremony is about to begin, she tells her father-in-law that she will only take part in it if Jamuna is present for the ritual. When he protests against it, she says that she wants to show them that the dhaki’s daughter they kept insulting, is the lucky person of her life.

When Geet gender-reversed roles at her in-laws’ house

In one of the episodes, Geet asks Ved’s uncle to cook for the house and make Kalia for the household. When Ved’s uncle says he does not know how to make the dish, Geet tells him to learn it. She says that as they expect women of the household to know every dish and prepare it for them all day, the men should also learn how to cook the dishes for the women.
