Jayaram Birthday: Uttama Villain, Bhaagamathie – Films To Watch On The Actor’s Special Day

Jayaram Subramaniam is a legend in his own right in Tamil and Malayalam film industries with over 200 films and several awards including Padma Shri and four state film awards to his credit. Popularly known as Jayaram, this brilliant actor is also chende percussionist, mimicry artist and has even done playback singing. In fact, Jayaram began his career as a mimicry artist before debuting in Malayalam film, Aparan. His foray into Tamil industry began with movies like Gokulam, Purushalakshanam and Kolangal. He’s enjoyed a long and successful pairing with Kamal Haasan in both Malayalam and Tamil films which included some of his most famous movies in Tamil – Panchathanthiram and Thenali, where he plays Dr Kailash while Kamal plays the neurotic hypochondriac, Thenali. His most recent pairing with Kamal was in Uttama Villain. Check out two recent movies starring Jayaram that you can watch on his birthday.
Uttama Villain is the story of a dying movie star whose children, both legitimate and illegitimate hate him. When he is diagnosed with brain cancer, he sets out to make a final film. This is essentially a film within a film and Jayaram beautifully plays the role of Jacob Zachariah, the foster father of Manoranjan’s illegitimate child.

Bhaagamathie
This movie was one of the highest grossing films, both in India and in USA. Jayaram plays the role of Minister Eswar Prasad, whose political rivals decide to institute a chess board of moves to bring him down. To facilitate that, they interrogate Chanchala (played by Anushka Shetty) who is a close confidante of Eswar and lock her up in the haunted house of Queen Bhaagamathie.
