Jennifer Lawrence and husband Cooke Maroney expecting their first child

The year 2021 will be a busy one for Jennifer Lawrence. Only a few hours after the release of the highly anticipated teaser for the star-studded movie Don’t Look Up—the actress’s first feature since 2019—reports surfaced that she is, in fact, expecting a child.

According to a spokeswoman for the 31-year-old actress, Lawrence is pregnant with her first child with her husband art dealer Cooke Maroney. Lawrence began seeing Maroney in June 2018 and married in October 2019 in a lavish 150-guest affair in Rhode Island.

Lawrence is arguably best recognised for her roles in The Hunger Games and American Hustle. Talking on the Naked with Catt Sadler podcast in June 2019, Lawrence mentioned, “I definitely wasn’t at a position [initially] where I was like, ‘I’m ready to be married’. I had just met Cooke and had decided that I wanted to marry him. We both desired to marry one another. We wanted to give it our all. I want to legally link him to me for the rest of my life because he is my best friend. And, thankfully, the necessary paperwork is available. It’s incredible. You meet your favourite person on the earth and you feel compelled to stay with them. As a result, I wanted to accept that offer.”

Despite this, the couple has been careful to keep their connection discreet since the beginning of their courtship, which began after mutual acquaintance Laura Simpson tried to introduce Lawrence and Maroney, according to Page Six.

“She smiles like I have never seen her do with any of her prior boyfriends,” a source told People only two months after they began dating. By February of the following year, they were hitched. Lawrence and Maroney were rumoured to be interested in having children before their wedding, according to a source who told Entertainment Tonight in June 2019.

Although no formal due date has been set, Lawrence has begun to flaunt her burgeoning baby belly while strolling through New York City. Surely an ecstatic mom!
