AranyaDeb

In the 2017 ZEE5 Original film, AranyaDeb, Jisshu Sengupta essayed the role of a simple man who firmly believes that he possesses a special power and is capable of protecting this planet and the people. However, he is unable to convince the people around him about this. Jisshu, with his portrayal of AranyaDeb, evoked in us a chain of emotions, therefore making it a pleasant watch.

Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana

Jisshu Sengupta played the role of detective Byomkesh Bakshi in this 2016 film, with unparalleled brilliance, wherein he set off to find the criminal who murdered a retired judge. The fifth film in the Byomkesh series, Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana also starred actors like Usashi Chakraborty, Saswata Chatterjee, Anindita Bose, Saayoni Ghosh and many more. The film also starred Saswata Chatterjee as Byomkesh’s companion Ajit Bandyopadhyay and was helmed by Anjan Dutt.

Basu Poribar

This multi-starrer film starred the legendary Soumitra Chatterjee as well as actors like Aparna Sen and Saswata Chatterjee alongside Jisshu. The actor won our hearts in Basu Poribar as Raja Basu, who comes to discover some long-buried secrets about his family in the least expected way. Directed by Suman Ghosh, the film also starred other eminent actors such as Rituparna Sengupta, Sreenanda Shankar, Kaushik Sen, and Sudipta Chakraborty.

Ghare & Baire

In this 2018 rom-com, Jisshu played Amit, a romantic man who quits his corporate job in Mumbai and returns to Kolkata to pursue his passion for music. As fate would have it, he stumbles upon Labonya (Koel Mallick), a long-time friend, again, with who he falls in love. While he wishes to convey his feelings to her, she is all set to soon tie the knot to an NRI man. Ghare & Baire is indeed a sweet, heart-warming watch.

Mahalaya

In 1976, late superstar Uttam Kumar had replaced the iconic Birendra Krishna Bhadra for All India Radio’s Mahisasura Mardini. With utmost conviction, Jisshu Sengupta essayed Uttam Kumar’s role in the 2019 film Mahalaya which showcased this particular incident, a very notable one indeed. Directed by Soumik Sen, the film also threw light upon the public outrage that took place after Bhadra was replaced by Uttam Kumar.

Takhan Teish

Jisshu played a mysterious and fantasy-loving Tamodeep, and he did immense justice to the character in Takhan Teish. His portrayal of a man who is obsessed with a soft porn star, Mohini, played by Paoli Dam, was worth all the accolades he received. Directed by Atanu Ghosh, the film also starred Indrani Halder, Tanusree Shankar, Aparajita Ghosh Das, and Rajatava Dutta in other roles.

Chore Chore Mastuto Bhai

In his early days as an actor, Jisshu proved his versatility when he absolutely killed the comedic role of Rahul in Chore Chore Mastuto Bhai. In the film, a group of men is looking to lay their hands on a precious diamond that is hidden in an unbelievable spot. Directed by Anup Sengupta, the 2005 film Chore Chore Mastuto Bhai is a rib-tickling watch with tinges of thrill.
