Kaagaz: Why Pankaj Tripathi, Satish Kaushik, Salman Khan Teaming-Up For This ZEE5 Project Is Good News For The Industry

Kaagaz, a new film based on a true story, is releasing on ZEE5 on January 7.  Directed by Satish Kaushik and presented by Salman Khan, the film stars Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role. This coming together of such big names and talented cast from the industry is great news considering how big names are teaming up for good content.

Based on the true story of a farmer (Lal Bihari ‘Mritak’) from a small village in Uttar Pradesh, Kaagaz is releasing under the tagline: ‘A true success story of a dead man’. Pankaj Tripathi stars as Bharat Lal ‘Mritak’, a man who is declared dead in government documents. The plot of the film then revolves around the satirical hilarity created due to it and his fight against the system to prove that he is alive.

Seeing years go into films that were mostly based on the entertainment factor and (for the most part of them) neglected what stories they presented, it certainly feels good to have content-oriented films. A bigger joy is that a talented and influential person like Satish Kaushik is directing and starring in the film. Being an alumnus of both, FTII and NSD, he has great knowledge of cinema and has directed great films, like Tere Naam. His genius of filmmaking, which will also show in Kaagaz, is a treat for the audience.

Also, Pankaj Tripathi, who in the last decade has become everyone’s favourite actor, is the perfect casting for the role of Bharat Lal ‘Mritak’. He is still loved for his roles in Bareilly Ki Barfi and The Tashkent Files. His simplicity, his acting, which is so convincing, and his dedication towards any role he is given, is no less than a blessing for the makers of Kaagaz and its audience. 

Satish Kaushik, in an interview about Kaagaz, said that after working together in Tere Naam, he reunited with Salman Khan on the sets of Bharat. There, he told him about his idea of Kaagaz, and hearing it, Salman Khan was immediately on board to present the film. Thus, the film is releasing under the banner of Salman Khan Films. An influential person like him appreciating and supporting films like Kaagaz is certainly good news for the industry.

Kaagaz is a film that is bringing a very unique story of a man’s strangest struggles to the screen. Films like this not only promote good plots and content but also tell the people that such stories do exist in real life.

Kaagaz premieres on ZEE5 on January 7, 2021.
