Kaale Dhande: 5 Reasons Why The ZEE5 Original Series Reminds Us Of Delhi Belly

ZEE5 has released its latest original Marathi series Kaale Dhande, which features Mahesh Manjrekar (Anna Bhai), Neha Khan (Swapnali)  and Shubhankar Tawade (Vicky) in lead roles. The series tells the tale of a budding photographer Vicky, who finds himself stuck in dangerous events, due to certain circumstances. Vicky and his friends get unintentionally involved with a mafia gang and viewers are taken on a journey of how they escape. The series is a laughter-riot with its fair share of interesting plot twists. In many ways, it reminds us of the hit Bollywood film Delhi Belly, starring Imran Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Vir Das.

Here are five reasons why we say so…

1. Three’s company 

Vicky spends most of his time with his two best friends Sam and Sudarshan. The way they are and their mannerisms, take us back to the way Tashi, Arup and Nitin were in Delhi Belly. From their solid friendship to the constant leg-pulling to their unhygienic way of living, a lot of traits are similar between the two boy gangs.

2. The case of the cheating husband 

In Kaale Dhande, Vicky finds out that his family friend Baban-a married man- is a player, who has affairs with several women. In order to trick him, he and his friends set up a trap to catch him red handed with a woman. They take his pictures too so that they have proof. If you have seen Delhi Belly, this incident may take you back to when Nitin discovers that his landlord is cheating on his wife with a hooker. He too takes pictures of them canoodling, to blackmail his landlord later.

3. The friend in need 

Vicky’s friend makes use of his female friend, to trick Baban into believing that she needs a loan. He uses her to set the trap for Baban and something similar was seen in Delhi Belly when Tashi uses Menaka’s (Poorna Jagganathan) help to get him and his friends out of trouble.

4. The mafia madness 

Vicky and his friends land in trouble when they get involved with don Anna Bhai. This case is similar in Delhi Belly when Tashi and his friends hatch a plan to escape from don cowboy (Vijay Raaz), who gets after them due to some confusion.

5. Young, wild and free 

The youthful content as well as the bold scenes in Kaale Dhande also remind us of Delhi Belly. The latter set a trend for a new wave of cinema with its daring content and looks like this ZEE5 original Marathi series is on the same track.
