One of most profitable and entertaining Punjabi movies from 2019 was Binnu Dhillon and Sargun Mehta’s Kala Shah Kala. The romantic comedy is a delight to watch when you’re having a difficult day. The film deals with the dark-skinned Lovely ‘Nag’ (played by Binnu) who falls in love with Pammi (played by Sargun). Nag and Pammi get married but she rejects Nag, as she loves Jaggi aka Jordan Sandhu. So now Nag must prove his love and win her back.  The movie is loaded with hilarious scenes and dialogues. Here are some of the best scenes from the film:

The movie starts with a flashback of Nirmal Rishi aka Nindro Bhua where she introduces Nag, a guy who is taking steam in his friend’s salon. Bystanders have gathered outside to get a glimpse of Lovely who is still taking the steam. As soon as he picks up the cloth and shows his face, a kid standing outside cries out loudly and everyone mocks him for being so dark. The way he shows his face and the kid’s reaction will surely make you laugh out loud.

After facing several rejections, Lovely finds Pammi as his final chance to fall in love. Bhua successfully convinces Pammi’s dad (played by B.N. Sharma) to meet Lovely and his housemates. When Pammi’s dad meets Nag, he is riding a tractor and doing other funny stuff just to impress his future father-in-law. Just watch the scene for Sharma’s reaction. 

When Lovely’s marriage proposal reaches Pammi’s house after a chaotic scene, the family agrees but there’s a catch — Pammi loves Jaagi. So, she meets Jaggi and plans to run away with him. Later in the night, Jaggi is standing with his bike, but Pammi is not able to jump from the roof. While she is trying to co so, the villagers see Jaggi and they follow him to beat him up. The whole scene is hilarious and has some good situational comic punches.

Pammi’s nightmare comes true — she gets hitched to Nag. In fact, she’s crying hard because of the fact that she got married to the guy she mocked once. During the bidaai, Pammi looks at her Beeji, who expresses her happiness and  relief that Pammi is finally leaving the house. Beeji’s expressions and this scene have become one of the biggest memes of our time.

The film’s second half starts with Pammi and Nag’s wedding night, Lovely looks hopeful about starting a new life. But when he enters the bedroom, he is shell-shocked to see that Pammi is acting strange, kicking, and slapping him, and acting possessed. What follows is a brilliant, hilarious performance by Sargun and Binnu.
